Internships • Students should work with their counselor for tools to find an internship. • All paperwork for credit must be completed and approved prior to start date. • Those done during the semester for credit are no more than 10/15 hours per week. • Internships done during the summer can be fulltime. • NOTE - There is a correlation between students who have internships and those who have the most success finding employment upon graduation.

Engaged Academically • Students are academically engaged 4 days per week in a full-time course load. • Coursework at Center programs is articulated to count for Fairfield credit and grade. • Academic departments select Preferred Programs for majors and minors. • Our focus is on developing and implementing programming that complements and supplements the academic programs at Fairfield University.

Project Excel (PE) • PE is a TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Program • Funded by the U. S. Department of Education • Provides support services for students who are: – First generation to go to college (parent/s or guardian/s has not completed a four-year degree. – Meet specific guidelines for family income (Pell-Grant recipients often meet our guidelines for family income) – An individual with a disability • Services Include: – Academic tutoring & skill development, assistance with financial aid, information and assistance with navigating University and outside opportunities, graduation and professional school assistance, financial and economic literacy, lending library, computer and study areas
Project Excel/Student Diversity and Multicultural Affairs Partnership • Collaborative Partners in the implementation of the Academic Immersion (AI) Program for select underrepresented students. • Summer 2020 (August 3 -28): Credit bearing virtual summer term with enhanced academic and transition to college support from multi-layer support system featuring a Teaching Assistant Team, Program Assistants (virtual Ras), GSEAP Intern Team, and professional staff. • AY 2020 -2021: 1: 1 academic support, skill building workshops, community engagement opportunities.

Personal Librarian Program to introduce first-years and transfer students to the collections and services of the Library. Each FYE section has an assigned librarian. Course-integrated research instruction. Online tutorials, research guides, and citation guides. Citation management software and assistance setting up accounts. Over one million books/e. Books & over 200 databases of academic articles & streaming media. Digital subscriptions to the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Chronicle of Higher Education.

Interlibrary Loan, a free service to request articles/books from other libraries. Reservable spaces to conduct group work and a virtual reality viewing room 24/7 study space available in the Café and Innovation Lab. Tech equipment such as computers, laptops, chargers, printers (and poster printer), scanners. Also have other useful items in our “Library of Things” such as umbrellas, bookstands, lap desks, whiteboards, etc. Annual Library Research Prize of $1, 000 awarded to an undergraduate student/team. Opportunity to apply to be on the Student Library Advisory Board, or to get involved by curating resource displays or planning events with the library staff. Special events are held throughout the year, such as research and writing workshops, the Human Library®, free coffee and snacks during finals week, therapy dogs, and other de-stress activities.
