Background of Problem In learning English, some skills divided into 4 such as Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing. Some students agree that speaking is the most difficult skills to learn. But, there are some students also state that writing is difficult too than the other skills. They said that the problems when they write something are they lack of vocabulary, the word order, how to get the ideas, and they do not know how to be consistent about the topic in their paper eventhough they have been given the topic from their teacher.

Conceptual Framework Teaching writing is one of the important skills in learning English. The students need to know how to put the ideas into the written form too, not only in speaking and reading. Without the knowledge of writing, it is impossible that they can know how to word orders or how to make a good sentences. Octopus strategy appears as one of the new strategies that can hope to offering some new varieties in teaching and learning especially in English. It hopes that octopus strategy give the students opportunity to improve their writing skills, to share their ideas in written form and to make them more creative.
