Microsoft Teams 101 for Students This is a simple guide to the basics of Microsoft Teams By: Mrs. Jenkins (Olmsted 156)
Joining a Meeting Click the Meeting Link given by your teacher in Schoology
This popped up for me because I already downloaded the Teams app If you have not downloaded the Teams app, choose “continue on this browser” (you can download the app later) Joining a Meeting from the Web Browser
Click “allow”
4. Click “Join now” 1. Enter first and last name 2. This shows camera on. Click to turn off. 3. This shows microphone (sound) on. Click to turn off.
This means your teacher is not here yet. Wait and you will be admitted : )
Join a Meeting from the Teams App
This shows my profile picture because I am signed into Office in the Teams app 4. Click “Join now” 2. This shows camera off. Click to turn on. 3. This shows microphone (sound) on. Click to turn off.
Microsoft Teams App Toolbar (if your app is updated)
Web Browser Toolbar On a Web browser, you will see a toolbar at the bottom instead of the top. There also less options.
Microphone This microphone is on. Click to turn off. (if the microphone is off, click to turn on) Keep your mic muted unless you are participating.
Camera This camera is off. Click to turn on. (if the camera is on, click to turn off)
Raise your hand Click on the hand to raise your hand. Click it again to lower your hand.
The Chat Click on the speech bubble to see the chat (show conversation). Click it again to hide the chat.
Typing in Chat You can type in chat here. When you hit enter (or return), your message will send to chat.
The Participants Click on the people to see the participant list. Click it again to hide the participants.
More Options Click on the three dots to see a whole list of other options.

Browser Teams App Leaving a meeting At the end of live instruction, you will click the red leave or phone symbol.
How to Download the Teams App (on Windows) The Teams App has more options even though it’s just fine to join from the web browser.
Click here to download the app. When you click a meeting link, you can choose download the app.
