Our Nursery • 39 FTE places • 5 attendance options – – – Mornings Afternoons 2. 5 days- Mon & Tues all day, Wed am 2. 5 days- Wed pm, Thurs and Fri all day 30 hours- 5 full days

The Early Years Curriculum The Early Years curriculum is a curriculum designed specifically for children from birth to 5 years of age which covers several key aspects of learning: • Personal, Social and Emotional Development • Communication and Language • Physical Development • Literacy • Mathematics • Understanding the World • Expressive Arts and Design

• The curriculum is designed to meet the needs of young children and ensures that all learning is based on practical and experiential activity. • Most learning in Nursery will take place through children initiating their own play and activities in our carefully planned Nursery environment. During this, staff will support children in developing their skills and knowledge to facilitate learning.

Phonics • Phonics begins in Nursery where children develop their ability to listen to noises and sounds and the patterns in these before beginning to learn phonic sounds. • Phonics is an integral part of teaching children to read and write. • In school, we follow the Read, Write Inc. phonics scheme.

Assessment • Teachers closely monitor and observe children within the setting. • Assessment of progress is completed regularly and is based on observation of independent activity and outcomes from focussed adult-led activities.

Working together • Observations sent home weekly, using 2 simple, for parents to comment upon. • Parents have the ability to send teachers significant learning experiences from home via email. • More information on this to be shared in September.

Outdoor Learning

Lunch Club • Lunch Club- £ 4 (this cost includes a school lunch and the childcare costs for this period). • Each morning, children choose their own lunch from a range of choices. • Lunchtime is 11. 45 am – 12. 30 pm.

Nursery School Uniform • • • Grey trousers, pinafore or skirt; White polo shirt; Red checked dress (Summer Term); Red school jumper/cardigan; Black school shoes (preferably Velcro fastening). Please ensure all items of clothing are clearly labelled with your child’s name.

What does my child need to bring to Nursery each day? • A waterproof coat. • Sun hats, when needed. • A bag

Snack and Milk • Children will receive a healthy snack of fruit each day. • All children will receive a free drink of milk each day as part of the Cool Milk scheme.

Top-up Sessions • There are some sessions still available to purchase. • £ 15 per 3 hour session. • Parents will need to commit to top up sessions for a term but will be offered first refusal on further terms. • Top-up sessions allocated on a first come first served basis.

Breakfast & Tea Club • Breakfast Club- 7. 30 am-8. 45 am – £ 3 for children arriving between 7. 30 am-8. 00 am. – £ 2 for children arriving from 8. 00 am onwards. • Tea Club- 3. 30 pm-6. 00 pm – £ 1. 50 per half hour attended.

Parent Pay • Charges in relation to lunch club and additional sessions will be added to your Parent. Pay account prior to each term. All charges must be cleared by the given dates: – Autumn Term- Friday 11 th December – Spring Term- Friday 26 th March – Summer Term- Friday 2 nd July Nursery places may be withdrawn if termly payments for Lunch Club and additional sessions are not received by the dates above.

Parent Pay • Charges for Breakfast and Tea Club will be added separately on a weekly basis dependent on the sessions you attend, which is the same system for the rest of school.

What next? • Please complete our school data pack and return as soon as possible. The forms included are an important part of our admissions procedure. • We will continue to update the Nursery area of school website with further information regarding September and with things to share with your child to help with the transition process.

30 hours Apply for 30 hours on the government website as soon as possible. If successful, you will receive an 11 digit eligibility code starting in 500. Complete the information on the Nursery funding form and return to school by the end of term. Ensure you check your eligibility every 3 months.
