Welcome to Birchfield nursery School Hello to the class of 2021

Every day we will welcome you at the front door where you give your grown up a kiss and a hug and get ready for a new day of adventures

The first person you will see is me, Mrs Liku (say it like this Lee-Koo!) I am the head teacher (not a grumpy one!) and I say hello to everybody by their names because you are very special to me

The cloakrooms The first thing you do is find your peg and hang up your things. Your teachers will help you find it so don’t worry

The classrooms Every room is packed full of amazing things to do. We have an art room, a building room, a sand water area and a whole room for playing ‘home’

The Great Outdoors Our outdoor area is one of our favourite places to be and we are sure you will love it too

Making Friends Of course nursery is a time to meet lots of other people and make new friends. We know you will make lots of them! Don't worry…if you find it hard your teachers are always here to help.

Families are important We know this can be a tough time for all parents…don’t think of this as saying goodbye but as an exciting step in your child’s life journey. We are on that journey with you so always ask questions, share worries. Contact me at Head. birchfieldnursery@halton. gov. uk

Always learning The nursery is a place where you will learn and discover so many wonderful things. We encourage our children to ask questions and wonder about the world around them through our ‘Learning Challenge Curriculum led by Mrs Barrow

Making Mathemagicians! We are passionate about establishing strong knowledge in both maths and phonics to support your child as they make their next steps into primary. We are the first and only nursery to be using the ‘Early Maths fluency’ approach and we have strong links with local primaries and the local teaching schools. Maths really is fun at Birchfield and you will be amazed by what your child learns!

Fabulous phonics We are committed to supporting our children in early literacy. From the start of your child's journey we will deliver daily sessions to develop phonics skills. As their journey continues we deliver systematic synthetic phonics sessions with the aim of starting your child on their journey as a reader. Look out for, and sign up to, parents workshops to maximise learning at home.
