Phonics • Phonics is an integral part of teaching children to read and write.

Transition into Reception • 2 transition visits • Thursday 28 th June- 12. 45 pm until 2. 45 pm • Tuesday 10 th July- 8. 30 am-9. 00 am until 1. 15 pm (including lunch) • Please ensure you complete a Reception Transition Visit form for your child, if you have not already done so.

Nursery Visits • Visits to the nurseries children currently attend will take place in

Nursery Visits • Visits to the nurseries children currently attend will take place in the Summer term. • These visits allow us to meet many of the children and find out more about them from Nursery staff. • Please indicate your child’s current nursery on the Reception transition form so we can ensure we visit as many of the nurseries as possible.

At the start of the day… • Classroom doors will be opened at 8.

At the start of the day… • Classroom doors will be opened at 8. 30 am. The door will be closed at 9. 00 am to ensure the children’s safety. • Children are encouraged to enter the classroom independently, put away their things and follow the morning routine. • Each child has a personalised tray and coat peg to store their belongings. • Once the classroom doors are closed, late entry to school is through the school office only.

During Lunchtime. . . • Currently, all children in Reception all receive a free

During Lunchtime. . . • Currently, all children in Reception all receive a free school lunch as part of the Universal Free School Meals program. Each morning, children choose their own lunch from a range of choices. • Lunchtime is 12. 15 pm – 1. 15 pm. • Children may choose to bring a healthy packed lunch in an appropriate container clearly labelled with their name (no sweets, chocolate bars or fizzy drinks allowed).

At the end of the day… • Reception door will be opened at 3.

At the end of the day… • Reception door will be opened at 3. 15 pm. • All children must be collected by a familiar adult (over the age of 16 years). • Children will be prepared for home-time in the classroom prior to the end of the day and are then brought out under direct teacher supervision – please be patient as it can take a little while for everyone to be ready and to match children up with their parents!
