College Bound Session Top 8 tips for your College Bound Senior
#8 Grades and Transcripts • Grades matter – Use Parent VUE • Admissions are often based on first 6 semesters but scholarships can be re-calculated based on senior year grades. • Students can make transcript requests from Mrs. Nolen in the records office • Encourage your student to take a full schedule this year • Dual Enrollment • Internship • Explore career ideas
#7 College Bound Testing: ACT & SAT All of our current seniors took the ACT here on campus last year as Juniors. Student can re-take exams for college admissions or scholarship opportunities If a student wants to re-take the ACT or take the SAT they will need to sign up for these online. #5 Enrolling in Community College • Many students choose to directly enroll in a community college after high school. • Community colleges offer hundreds of associate degrees as well as certifications. They also offer many ways to transfer to a university. • This does not require a specific GPA or test score. • This is a great step-by-step resource to help your student enroll at any Maricopa Community college: www. maricopa. edu/getting-started
