(over 1700 school packets processed last year) • You should have already filled out the Orange “Records Release Authorization Form” and returned in to the counseling office. • Complete a “Recommendation Letter Follow-up Form” for each teacher you asked for a rec letter in the spring and get that form to them ASAP. Teachers have been asked to upload their recommendation letters no later than 10/15

The 15 school day processing time begins when your request is received in NAVIANCE. • Send your SAT or ACT scores directly from ACT or College Board to each college/ university • Check NAVIANCE to see when materials have been submitted to college • Senior meetings are being scheduled - please make every effort to make it to your meeting

Completing The Common App FERPA Agreement • Applicants will submit the FERPA decision on their Common Application account • FERPA question is answered when you add your first college to the application. Under the “My Colleges” tab of your application. • In order for the counseling office to send transcripts, counselor recommendations, and teacher recommendations, this FERPA portion MUST be completed and your NAVIANCE account linked with your Common App account. Counselors will assist with this in senior meetings.

Coalition Application • You should find your high school CEEB Code 392363 but you

Coalition Application • You should find your high school CEEB Code 392363 but you can also search by city (Malvern, PA) • Please do not enter your recommenders or counselor on the Coalition Application. • We will use NAVIANCE to submit the school packet to these colleges, just as we do with the Common Application. • You will need to check the box on each application that indicates your materials will be submitted in another manner.

Completing the Senior Letter of Recommendation Survey • Student – If the student hasn’t already done so, we ask all students to complete their survey. The counselors use this information to assist in completing their letter of recommendation. • Parent – The parent also has there own version of the survey to complete. The parent survey can be completed only by using the parent account and can not be found on the student’s account. Completing this survey assists counselors to complete the student’s recommendation.

Local Scholarships • List of Local Scholarships will be available by March 1, 2019.

Local Scholarships • List of Local Scholarships will be available by March 1, 2019. • The list is sent to senior homerooms, sent to seniors in an email, posted on NAVIANCE and the GVHS website, school messenger and available in the Counseling Office. • All scholarship material will be available on NAVIANCE. • Keep checking for updates and additions once the link opens (notices will continue to be sent if additions are made) • All applications, unless otherwise noted, are due in the Counseling Office in April 2, 2019.

Campus/ Study Halls Help • Students can sign in to the counseling computer lab during campuses to work on applications. • Students with study halls can ask Mrs. Mc. Donnell for a pass to come out of study hall to use the counseling office computer lab. (this is limited to 5 students each period)

Dual Enrollment… What is Dual Enrollment • • Great Valley School District is partnered with community colleges and universities to offer our students the opportunity to earn college-level transfer credits for work completed in approved high school classes. There are currently seven courses at Great Valley High School that offer this option to our students. Courses taken as dual enrollment receive college credit only when the application with the college is accepted, fees are paid, and the student successfully completes the course. What courses at GVHS offer a dual enrollment option? • Montgomery County Community College offers dual enrollment for the following GVHS courses: • French 4 and 5, German 4 and 5, and Spanish 4 and 5 • University of Pittsburgh offers dual enrollment for the following GVHS Courses: • Introduction to Computer Programming Java, Introduction to Computer Programming Python, Introduction to Matrices and Linear Algebra, and Statistics
