Cap and Gown Presentation and information coming in January ● Be on the lookout for paperwork and more information because the deadline to turn papers in comes quickly after presentation. ● Prices vary depending on package ○ Cap & Gown orders done through High School Achievements ■ www. highschoolachievements. com - (210) 826 -7961 ■ If paid off before delivery (May) will be issued on campus ○ Complete the paperwork to ensure student gets the right size cap and gown for graduation!

Senior Pictures October 22 nd - October 24 th in the PERC ● Yearbook photo will be cap & gown - no stoles or cords -- additional poses $10 each ● Gentlemen: shirt & tie ● Ladies: dress or dress blouse

Panoramic Picture ● When: Sept 18 - Put it on your calendar, plan on being at school early ● Picture will be taken at 8: 00 am - JROTC Drill Pad ● More information will be provided on costs

Electronic Progress Reports Progress reports will be available electronically through family access and student access. Parents who have requested a paper copy will have one sent home. Key points: ● ● If you do not have a family access account, you can alternatively get the report through your child’s student access account. ○ Call the Help Desk if you need assistance with this 210 -356 -4357 These reports will be available to parents/students as early as Tuesday through family access/student access. Please feel free to call our Data Processor, Tina Guerrero, at 210 -356 -0853, if you have any questions regarding your family access account.

ATTENDANCE 90% rule = students cannot miss more than 9 days each semester ● Excused/Unexcused count against credit ● College Visit (with form)/Dr Note/School Business do not Saturday School dates will be posted, we will also accept hours done in tutoring Attendance is mandatory each day, no free days for Seniors (even the last 2 days of school after Senior Exams) Check student emails and student Skyward account for updates

Fees and Obligations Fees that affect Graduation Ceremony eligibility: ○ Library Fees ○ Organization Fees ○ Uniform Fees ○ Textbook Fees ○ Art Fees ○ Cafeteria Account Fees that do not affect Graduation Ceremony eligibility: o Senior Dues o Graduation Announcements o Senior Pictures o Things that are student choice (Homecoming, Prom, games etc. )

GRADUATION DRESS CODE ❑ Senior Awards and Graduation have stricter guidelines for piercings and hair color ○ Piercings can be in the EAR ONLY ○ Hair Color must be a NATURAL hair color ○ Gentlemen: must wear shirt/tie, dress slacks, and dress shoes/boots ○ Ladies: Knee-length (or longer) dresses or dark dress slacks. Dress shoes (low heels, 2 -3 inches recommended)

Important! ❏ ❏ ❏ Have a list of at least 5 colleges that you want to attend Explore different careers and have a list of your top 3 Have taken or be registered to take the SAT / ACT Start college applications ASAP Start researching scholarships Have a resume to give to teachers and counselor for letters of recommendation Have 3 teachers selected to write your letters Notify them as soon as possible Give them at least 10 days to write your letters Fill out FAFSA/ TASFA in October Know all deadlines for your colleges and scholarships ( MAKE A LIST) Request Transcripts

Applying to College • • The Application (Apply. Texas, Common. App or Coalition) Test Scores – SAT, ACT, or TSI Transcript (GPA & Rank) Essays Recommendation Letters Application Fee or Waiver - (Free/Reduced lunch) FAFSA or TASFA

TSI Assessment • The TSI is a program designed to help you to determine whether the student is ready to move into college-level coursework • Required by colleges in Texas • Exemptions: • Meet minimum requirements on SAT (480 ERW, 530 Math) or ACT (19 Reading/Math) • Take AP English or Math exams and receive passing score We will offer the TSI on campus during both semesters. Dates will be announced via morning announcements

SAT School Based Testing ● Wednesday Oct 16 ● Offering SAT during the school day ● This will forfeit late arrival, test will start in the morning ● See Ms. Cervantes in the Counseling Office ● Deadline is September 16 at 4: 30

Automatic Admission – Top 10% • Texas Public Universities are required to accept all students who are in the top 10% of their class **University of Texas at Austin: Only accepts the Top 6%

Admission by Committee Review If not in Top 10%, the university will consider them under holistic review. Factors in consideration: • Class Rank • GPA and rigor of courses • Test Scores • Essays • Letters of Recommendation • Leadership, Community Service Experiences, Extracurricular Activities • Work Experience • Socioeconomic Status & Overcoming Adversity

The San Antonio Education Partnership (SAEP) Scholarship • Requirements • Graduate with 80 GPA • 3 workshops (1 at Cafecollege) • EFC under $14, 500 Deadline to complete all requirements: March 30 th Can be used at all San Antonio Schools -$600 per yr (Alamo) -$850 per yr (4 yr public) -$1500 per yr (4 yr private)
