RHS Volleyball Culture It is our roadmap for success as individuals and as a team. It reflects how we behave while in the gym, in season, and in preparation for the season. Team First Competitive Excellence Pride Respect Personal Accountability
COVID – 19 Guidelines MSHSL Return to Play Guidelines driven by CDC and MDH § Masks are required by all except for players when competing or certain practice times. § Social distancing will be enforced. § Players will be in Pods (Teams) with limited interaction. § Balls and equipment will be sanitized between events. § Hand sanitizer will be available at all events. Season Schedule § 9 -week regular season, 2 -week varsity post-season. § 14 total matches, all within conference. Only 9 count toward Conference standings. Two per week. § First match October 9 th. § Last match November 23 rd. § No spectators. All matches will be live streamed.
Support and adhere to RHS Volleyball culture. Be on-time and prepared for all events. Coaches’ Policies and Expectations • Adhere to MSHSL Return to play guidelines • Wear Masks • Enforce social distancing and use of sanitizing. • Limit risk through use of PODS. • Remind players to make good decisions. • Report COVID issues immediately. Create a safe, supportive and trusting environment for all players. Be consistent in approach, emotions, messages, and effort. Focus on the success of the team and the development of all players, helping each individual and the team reach their potential. Set the tone for practice and matches. ◦ ◦ ◦ Require players to compete. Encourage taking risks and learning from mistakes. Communicate. Promote team cohesion. Connect with players. Facilitate team and individual goal setting and reporting. Be respectful to other coaches, referees, players and parents.
Support and adhere to RHS Volleyball Culture Player Policies and Expectations • Wear masks whenever possible. • Social distance. • Bring own water bottle. • Do not share clothing and equipment. • Shower immediately after practice. • Be smart outside of the gym. • Report illness / Get tested. Maintain academic eligibility and abide by RHS Athletic code. Attend all team functions. Be on-time and prepared. No DRAMA, No GOSSIP, No BULLYING, No HAZING, i. e. be a caring, respectful, honest, and loyal teammate. This includes in gym, at school, at home, at social events, and on social media. Support and value all roles on the team. No cell phones at practice or during matches. Meet / exceed your volunteer requirements.
Playing Time and Team Movement Playing time is NOT guaranteed at any level. Players can and will be moved up or down across teams based on injuries, team needs, performance and attitude. Player Policies and Expectations Players may practice with one team but play at a different level. Conflict Resolution Players are encouraged to talk to program captains and/or their coaches to resolve issues. No discussions with parents regarding playing time. Meetings with coaches to discuss an issue must include player and parent. No emails related to conflicts/issues.
Parent Policies and Expectations Support and adhere to RHS Volleyball Culture. Support your daughter in whatever role they have with the team and program. Allow coaches to coach. Respect coaches, players, officials, and other parents. No gossiping at home, in the stands, or at events. Volunteer and participate.
Injuries Training Room Guidelines due to COVID are located on the website. Players and Coaches must follow these guidelines. Trainer, Ashley Rust, is available daily from 2: 30 -5: 30, and available at home JV and Varsity games. Players need to advise coaches of any injuries. If an athlete goes to the doctor, we need a note from the doctor clearing them to play/practice. Players must practice day before a match. Transportation Busing has been adjusted to ensure less than 50% capacity and support no spectator rules. Masks are required on buses. 1 person to seat. 9 th Grade: Bus to and from all matches 10/JV Bus to and from most matches Varsity limited busing Bus schedule will be available on RHS Program Info Page.
Facts RHS Volleyball budget does not cover the cost of running the basic program. Volleyball program budget is not related to or associated with RHS sports registration fees. Financing RHS Volleyball Primary means of supporting the volleyball program is our Booster Club, who’s mission is to improve the overall experience for players and parents and raise additional FUNDS necessary to run the RHS Volleyball program. Fundraising Approach 3 primary feeds ◦ Volunteering ◦ Player Fees ◦ Donations Meetings are first Monday of each month, 7: 00 pm at RHS. All parents are welcome.
Players are required to participate in a specified number of events along with some required events. Volunteering Many of the events focus on the development of youth volleyball programs, program visibility in the community. Examples include: ◦ Summer Queens League - Cub Bagging ◦ Summer Volleyball Camps - Presidents Day Volleyball Tournament ◦ RHS IM Volleyball League - Youth Clinics This helps develop mentoring and leadership skills in the players. Per-Player Volunteer Requirements ◦ CUB BAGGING (Dec and May) and PRESIDENT’S DAY (Feb) … PLUS: ◦ Varsity – 5 Events (8) JV – 4 Events (7) ◦ 10 th – 3 Events (6) 9 A&9 B – 2 Events These totals are subject to change as volunteer needs change. Uncompleted volunteer hours will roll to the next season. Sign-up for events on our website in the DIBS section. ◦ Completed event totals show in DIBS.
