Team Sport • 14 Weight Classes: – 106, 112, 120, 126, 132, 138, 145 – 152, 160, 170, 182, 195, 220, 285 • Score points as a team – dual and traditional • “Iron Sharpens Iron” • Everyone has a role, Everyone suffers together
Merit-Based Sport • No Practice, No Play • Weekly challenge matches • Coach reserves the right to make substitutions based on match situation and wrestler performance
Weight Management • Weight loss is NOT mandatory • What is best for the wrestler? The team? • Minimum weight class and controlled weight descent established through Hydration Testing • Wrestlers must stay within their weight class • Daily weigh-ins before and after practice • +2 lbs after Christmas

Participation Requirements • 70% or above in all classes – No Pass, No Play – Will be withheld from competition until passing • Medical Packet – Physical, Consent, Concussion, Cardiac Arrest – Submitted before is wrestler allowed to practice • Participation Fee - $150 – Due before wrestler is allowed to compete – Spirit Pack, H 2 O Test, Trainer
Equipment • Wrestlers’ Responsibilities: – Wrestling Shoes – Headgear – Practice Clothes – Athletic Shoes • School’s Responsibilities: – Competition Uniform – Competition Warm-Ups *Must be returned after each competition
Fundraiser – Snap!Raise • Why? – Capital Improvements – New Mat • How? – Snap!Raise – Supporters make donations through personalized webpage • When? – Nov. 8 thru Dec. 6 • Fundraising Goal: $200 per wrestler
Expectations - Wrestlers 1. Demonstrate good CHARACTER at all times. 2. Pursue academic excellence. 3. Be an active member of the wrestling team - attend practices and meets - make good grades - manage your weight

Expectations - Parents 1. 2. 3. 4. Support your son, the team, and the program. Demonstrate good sportsmanship. Keep the lines of communication open. Leave the coaching to the coaches.
Schedule • • • October 23 rd – February 18 th Practice Daily 2: 45 pm – 5: 00 pm Holiday/Weekend Practice 8: 30 am – 11: 00 am 2 Meets a Week – T/R and Sat Time off for Thanksgiving and Christmas
Central Invitational • • • Saturday, January 6, 2018 Oldest invitational tournament in Tennessee 1 -day tournament FUNDRAISER ALL HANDS ON DECK – Hospitality Room, Concession Stand, Gate Workers, Table Workers, Custodial Arts
Practice Procedures • • No Practice, No Play Daily 2: 45 -5: 00 Weigh-in before and after practice Everyone is responsible for cleaning the wrestling room, locker room, and restroom • Practice is CLOSED to visitors
Meet Procedures • Dual Meets – 2: 45 Practice at Central – 4: 00 Shower – 4: 30 Depart for competition – 5: 00 Weigh-in – 6: 00 Wrestle – Bring a LIGHT snack for AFTER weigh-ins – PARENTS, please stay out of the bench area – EVERYONE demonstrate good sportsmanship
Meet Procedures • Tournaments – Meet at Central to check weight and carpool – Caravan to tournament site – Wrestlers are to remain on site for the duration of the competition – Bring LIGHT lunch and snacks – Helicopter Parents and Special Guests – It is a COMPETITION. Wrestlers are there to WRESTLE.
Carpooling • We must provide own transportation – $400 in-county, $800+ out-of-county • Carpool to and from meets and tournaments • Out of town driving – no overnights (State) • Caravan from Central to meet site and back again – no stops, no detours
Nutrition • • EDUCATE YOURSELF Stay hydrated Change what you eat Meal plan and prep – time your meals Eat regularly for energy, not fullness Eat whole foods Chew gum
Tips and Reminders • • • Seek out inspiration – Pictures, Videos, Music Bathroom Scale Food Tracker – notebook, apps, websites Activity – occupy your mind and body Rest – let your body recover Avoid Temptation
Never • • • Stop eating and drinking Let yourself get hungry Eat junk food Tempting situations Diet pills/Diuretics Stay up late Eat while watching TV Believe you can “feel lighter” Lie to yourself, your parents, your coaches
Hygiene • The spread of disease is very real. • Wrestlers should shower immediately after practice and meets. • Clean practice clothes every day. • If it looks suspicious, get it looked at.
Medical • • • Hurting vs. Injured Injuries – Notify the coach immediately Athletic trainer 1 st for non-emergency injuries Follow proper protocol Active recovery Get back fast
