Social Media Policy Rocmaura’s Policy ~ Staff continue to act as representatives of Rocmaura outside regular business hours Need to conduct oneself in an appropriate manner
Social Media Policy Information/comments regarding Rocmaura/residents/families/coworkers/administration/board members.
Social Media Policy Use of social media during regular working hours is prohibited. Any use is not to conflict with any of Rocmaura’s existing policies.
Social Media Policy Confidential information is not to be shared; Discriminatory statements, bullying, or negative statements should not to be used; Defamatory statements – not tolerated
Social Media Policy Use of corporate logos/identity may not be used The employer’s systems may not be used for any illegal activity i. e. downloading or distributing pirated software/data.

Social Media/Electronic Communication Very much a part of our daily lives cellphones, internet, email, face book, texting, blogging, etc. Beneficial in themselves. When/where/how we use these tools.
Social Media/Electronic Communication Respect, responsibility, consideration for other. Communication/comments can impact others. Confidential information not to be shared
Social Media/Electronic Communication Inappropriate comments that could affect the reputation of a resident/family member/coworker/manager/Rocmaura or another organization.
Common policies re: Social Media An employee/non-employee who accesses social media for personal or business purposes. Is required to follow all applicable policies/guidelines of the organization.
Common policies re: Social Media Not limited to; the workplace; Conduct, privacy, confidentiality and consent around communication are all considerations of a policy.
Common Policies re: Social Media Code of conduct applies. Policies re: discrimination and/or harassment. Appropriate use of wireless communication devices.
Common policies in Social Media Employees/non-employee personnel are not to release, post or share through social media confidential information related to the employer.
Common policies re: Social Media Includes the names or personal information of Residents, their family members. Includes the names or personal information of co-workers, managers or supervisors,
Common policies re: Social Media Includes discussion of incidents that have occurred in the workplace and that are not generally known outside of the workplace.
Some Guidelines Take responsibility for your/our own actions and behaviours; Ensure they are respectful; when in doubt, don’t say it, don’t do it, don’t text/put on Facebook, etc.
Off Duty Conduct “Mr. Big & Tall Menswear” case. Where off-duty conduct was considered misconduct that resulted in discipline up to dismissal.
“Cox and Palmer” opinion “What employees do on their own time is their own business, but when employees’ conduct either ‘on or off the clock’ negatively impacts the employer’s organization, then it becomes the employer’s business. ”
