Euramis • Interinstitutional linguistic data management tool, database of parallel human-translated sentences (segments) • Started in 1995, now stores more than 1. 2 billion human-translated segments from nine EU institutions in all 24 EU languages and several others. • Average of 5000 daily operations and nearly 900 000 interactive queries in 2018. • Euramis NG project underway to improve use of metadata –more targeted searching and filtering. • Basis for e. DGT’s main objectives and challenges • Enable the Commission to work and deliver fast in 24 official languages • Provide a high-quality service in a context of resource constraint • Steer the service through technology-led change

Measures • Strive for further efficiencies via an optimal resources mix between v in-house translation capacity v outsourcing and v machine translation • Invest heavily in language technologies and linguistic data management • Streamline working methods and automate workflows • Develop staff profiles and train staff for changing roles • Offer e. Translation for some web and non-legal content • Offer editing services to improve drafting and help develop authoring tools
