FERPA Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act • Dual enrolled students have the rights of regular enrolled college students, except they cannot register for or drop classes on their own. A dropped class may result in a Resource class being added to the high school schedule. • No grade reports for college classes. Ask your student about PASSPORT & CANVAS. • Parents should not contact professors or request conference, but the COL administration can request information. • Early Warning System – Dr. Preston will follow up. • Don’t fear FERPA – Ask your student frequently about college classes/work. Post the syllabus and keep track of dates.

COL Information • Attendance – COL students are expected to attend every scheduled class and to be on time. Excessive absences & tardies can be a reason for dismissal from COL. Attendance will be taken daily in high school classes! High School classes meet 5 days a week, unless otherwise noted by each instructor. Parents should email Mrs. Thigpen (pthigpen@polk. edu) or Ms. Montanez (lmontanez@polk. edu) if student is going to be absent. • Early Release Form (if we return to campus of the spring semester)-Allows students to leave campus early or arrive after 7: 15 am, depending on schedule. Does not give permission for students to “come & go” or to transport other students. Students leaving campus for appointments must check out in office.

ALL grades post to SSR including college grades and are figured in high school grade point average. • All dual enrolled students have a Polk State transcript. College grades and drops/withdrawals post to transcript. • COL students must follow COL protocol for dropping a class. Retaking a dropped class or a failed class is at the discretion of the Principal. COL students will be assigned to a high school class for the remainder of the term following a college class drop. • School provides insurance for all students. See list of covered items in packet.

Students are responsible for these materials and must reimburse COL/Polk State for any loss or damage. Each student will also receive a planner. *TI 84. • Classroom rules – Refer to each syllabus. Expectations COL students are expected to… • Be college ready at graduation. • Complete the 20 hour Work Based Learning internship and to present to a panel of adults during senior year. • Be on time for EVERY class including CHART lab assignments, EI assignments, tutoring, math auditing etc. • Take SAT/ACT before the end of fall term senior year and spring term junior year. • Take advantage of supplemental assistance. Students will not be allowed to retake dropped or failed Polk State class without permission of the COL principal. • Participate in seminars and test prep activities. Note – all juniors will have COL professors both terms.
