JSA began with a dream. . EDUCATE – ENGAGE - INSPIRE Jacksonville School for Autism began in 2005 with a dream, a fundraiser, two students and two staff. Since then it has grown continually. The gradual and intentional expansion of programming to meet the students where they are and adding the appropriate staff to support these initiatives has brought JSA to where we are today. JSA Staff & Parents have been the foundation for student growth and achievement on every level.

JSA Mission Statement Jacksonville School for Autism (JSA) is dedicated to helping children with autism and their families by tapping into all available resources to provide “outside of the desk” thinking. With a focus on whole child development and individualized programs that encourage both family and community involvement, JSA is able to nurture each child to reach his/her full potential. Not just a place for learning, JSA creates an environment where relationships grow and lives are changed.

New Parent Info Arrival and Dismissal § Student School Hours 9: 00 am-3: 00 pm Extended Care 7: 30 am-5: 30 pm § Student Drop-Off Starts at 8: 55 am & ends at 9: 05 am. § ALL STUDENTS should be dropped off in the car pool line. We want to set our routines correctly on the first day back to school. If you have any reason that you cannot drop your students off, please contact Mrs. Trina. § Students who arrive after 9: 05 am will have to be escorted to the lobby & signed in as late. § NOTE: PARENTS are not allowed to walk late students to classroom/clinic. You need to wait until your teacher greets you in the lobby. We want to minimize disruption to clinic & classroom routines with late arrivals. JSA Extended Care Services (application required and we encourage you to contact Mrs. Trina) § Student arrival is as early as 7: 30 am and dismissal is as late as 5: 30 pm (pre-arranged Early & After Care). § Parents please note that all Extended Care services are in addition to tuition. § If you are late for arrival/pick-up please contact JSA Admin (732 -4343) & Mrs. Trina (378 -6841).

Kay Compliance All scholarship students are required to meet the following direct instruction hrs: K – 540 1 st - 3 rd Grade – 720 4 th - 12 th Grade – 900 Minimum Required Attendance: 180 days or 170 days (if school hours met). Notes: § If your student is sick please get a doctor’s note to support these absences § All Mc. Kay checks are signed and endorsed at JSA by parent of record.

New Parent Info § MANDATORY TREE NUT ALLERGY ALERT: We have extreme nut allergies so we must avoid tree nuts/nut dressings/nut candies, cereals, trail mix, nut bars, etc. THIS IS A LIFE-THREATENING issue that requires 100% compliance. § PEANUTS are allowed. § Lunch boxes & book bags should be clearly marked with your child’s name. § Please bring a change of clothing if you have not already done so. § Any new reinforces/edibles (especially new students) § Medication/Supplements with Medication Administration Release Form must be completed for this school year. Please bring meds/supplements to the open house if possible in original Rx /supplement bottle. § Personal items especially IPADS/IPODS sent to school are the responsibility of the parent and will not be replaced if broken on campus. Our staff will do everything possible to ensure safe handling of personal items but our students are known to make creative use of their technology devices.

Forms of Communication. . Silver Super Mail Folders § § We ask parents to review and respond to information sent home in the “Silver Super Mail Folders”. PLEASE RETURN these mail folders the next day to ensure we have a way to send home future mail. Daily Communication Emails § § § Parents will be given teacher emails in an effort to support communication. All emails will be responded to with JSA’s One Voice Communication (including response to leadership) so everyone can be on the same page. This is your opportunity to communicate with teachers/therapists each day on your child’s progress. Teachers/Therapists will give you a quick recap of the day but if you require any additional information you can submit requests by responding to all team members. OBSERVATIONS Classroom Observation Clinical Collaboration Mandatory for insurance families Failure to comply has and will result in reduced clinical hrs by the insurance provider. Confidentiality You may at times be in the presence of other students while you are with your child at the school. We ask that all information remain confidential and private. Every child deserves respect at JSA and we want to protect all of our students and families. By signing the Student & Parent Policy Manual, you are in agreement to not disclose personal information pertaining to other students.

ILLNESS POLICY Student Illness Policy: Parents must keep a sick child home to prevent the spread of illness. Students Ill at School: Students who become ill while at school will be brought to a room where they can rest quietly until parents can pick them up. Any child who vomits or has a fever of 100 degrees or more will be sent home. Parents need to be prepared or have an approved individual ready to pick up your child within 1 hour of notice.

FINANCIAL POLICY JSA TAD’s Electronic Tuition Management System Bills late fee that we cannot waive All Tuition due 1 st of each month(Monthly/Quarterly/Annually) JSACG Co-Pays will be invoiced as claims are paid Fees are assessed for late students, absences, etc. that cannot be billed to insurance. Planned absences/vacation (notify Trina/Kelli via email so they can try to use your therapists with other students/subs if possible to avoid charges.
