Magazine Proposal

Name The name of this magazine is Head Hunter, this was chosen due to themes within the magazine of violent films and games and allowing the magazine to be stylized with Western fonts and effects.

Genre The Magazine I intend to create is a mix between two genres, Film and gaming This has been chosen solely for the fact that both media products are very similar and as a result are reviewed, previewed and talked about almost identically. This in turn targets a large audience both film lovers and gamers alike.

Target Audience My target audience would primarily be late teens and young adults, this is due to a large majority of gamers being quite young, however this may also reach an older audience as film magazines tend to target people around 35. Most of my audience would be male, due to typically masculine topics covered. The audience would be typically mainstreamers as both film and gaming magazines are popular and are mostly Mass, opposed to niche. My target audience will tend to be invested and passionate about media products as a whole, whether this be TV, Films, games or books.

Target Audience P 2 Due to the films and games covered in the magazine and the sheer nature of the magazine, this will target a mass audience. Out of the survey Data, more people purchased game magazines as opposed to Film magazines. The people interviewed tended to buy magazines on a monthly basis. People tend to prefer reviews as they provide both and opinion but also a guideline on whether you should buy a product or not.

Purpose The primary purpose of the magazine is to inform and to guide readers, to help them making an informed decision on whether a film and/or game is worth their hard earned money and if it’s worth their time. The secondary purpose is to entertain so it can draw in readers, they come for the information but stay for the entertainment, this would generate more repeat purchases, therefore making the magazine a viable business option.

Content The magazine would feature: Previews, Reviews, Features and opinion pieces. This would appeal to my target audience as it is opinionated, topical and informative.

Price The magazine will be priced at £ 3. 99 This is cheaper than most magazines of either of the two genres. This will provide more incentive to buy the magazine as it costs less and many people seek value for money. This will also help sell to my target audience as most people of this age group are on the lower end of socioeconomic scale, C 2 DE. This due to many of them not being employed

Style Minimalistic layout Consists of sophisticated language, but still suited to the teen audience. High quality Images, most likely screenshots and frames from films and games. Sans-serif fonts to emphasize that the magazine is both bold and maleorientated. Western Themed Font for masthead.

Marketing This magazine could be marketed in the following ways: Word of mouth Advertising Featured in adverts with magazines of a similar genre Endorsement from people and/or companies Publicity Stunts Physical Advertisements, EG: billboards, on public transports, etc. Viral Videos

Geographical Location The target audience will most likely live in the UK due to the magazine requiring the reader to be fluent in English. This may also be due to the mannerisms that I may use whilst writing articles, they may be unfamiliar to those living outside the UK. It is also somewhat likely that European countries may also read it, considering how many countries such as Belgium, Holland, Norway, etc. are taught English as a second language in many education systems.

Justification I chose these two genres for my magazine because I’m passionate about both games and films and they’re both a popular topic to discuss. My target audience is a teen audience due to myself being around the same age, but also as there’s a large teen audience that enjoy both genres. The psychographics section was based off of: Media packs, Secondary information and survey data The magazine’s intended purpose was decided as a result of many magazines of the selected genres sharing these purposes.

Justification P 2 The nature of the content was decided on the basis of the success of other magazines following this structure and due to the genres it covers, it’s almost impossible not to include content of this variety. The selected price was decided upon after reviewing the socioeconomic status of many teenagers, making it less expensive than competitors allows for more sales and makes it more affordable to people in the C 2 DE classification.
