Thursday, 9/5/19 Modern World History – subject for the day Intro to all sections to be covered Goals/activities 1. Make a categorized list with your group, at least three things about each of the seven units 2. Transfer them to yellow sticky notes 3. Pass to next group 4. Put on board 5. See if correct. Discuss one for each group Homework: 1. Read first section (Renaissance (336 -345)) and take notes of some kind – one to two pages (no more than two, no less than one) – keep notes in a separate folder or notebook.

Two paragraphs. • Comparison of Burke and Burkhardt comparison • Discussion: What’s Humanism? How is it an ideal for us as Americans? Homework: Choose four different Renaissance art pieces that show us something about the Renaissance. Have a couple sentences written on each to show: 1. What it shows us about the Renaissance 2. What you think of this work of art… something thoughtful you can say about it. For example: Michelangelo’s David is way too muscular for a shepherd boy… or it’s a perfect example of how tough people must have been then…

Journal #6: What made Luther different than Henry, in terms of how and why the perpetuated their Reformation, and why they’d loathe each other. 3. Choose your person for the banquet (Wed 9/25) • • For that guy, you’ll write a paper and make food from his country, but do NOT tell anyone who you picked.
