Dixie M. Hollins High School known as Hollins High School • Named after first

Dixie M. Hollins High School known as Hollins High School • Named after first Superintendent of Pinellas County schools at the age of 24 • Born in Pattonville Texas in 1887 – moved to Clearwater in 1908 • Lead the fight for state-wide compulsory education – fought for and won Federal funding for education • Recruited teachers from the prestigious Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute – corresponding directly with Booker T. Washington • Goal was quality education for all children in Pinellas County

Health/Safety/Cleaning/Protocols Class sizes are being reduced to the lowest level to assist with social distancing Masks are required when on campus for both students, faculty and staff – students will have built in mask breaks – every class period Teachers will corporate disinfecting of rooms at the end of each class into their daily routines Hallways for class dismissal will be directional and split down the middle – students will be walking as you drive on the right side Plant Operations is following strict and specific cleaning guidelines to disinfect classrooms daily

• Lunch will be moved to the end of the day – this will help reduce the numbers of students on campus during lunch -assist with social distancing • Extended breakfast – grab and go first thing in the morning and after first block – free to everyone Special Provisions • Extended passing time to 10 minutes for students to access food/water • No water fountains – bottle filling station in café – bring your own water bottle • Sack lunch offered at the end of third block for students • Lunch offered at end of day • Self Screening – students and staff – DO NOT come to school sick

COVID Team • Sick students will be sent to clinic and be seen by Registered Nurse • Students exhibiting any COVID symptoms will be quarantined in special room next to clinic • Expectation/Agreement is that parent and guardian will be available to pick up sick student. Sick students will not be allowed to ride bus • COVID positive cases/ student/staff will be reported to COVID team – they will work in conjunction with Pinellas County Department of Health and begin contact tracing • Quarantine period will be 14 days or two weeks of school • Not all cases will require quarantine – threshold –sustained contact within 6 feet for 15 minutes or more – case by case • Sick/Quarantined students can access learning through Canvas online learning platform

Face to face and My PCS • Face to face – students who will be on campus and follow schedule • My PCS students will be off campus and follow same schedule • On time – engaged – marked absent if not present • Many classes will be simultaneous instruction – students online and face to face in same class with same teacher • This allows for student access to electives, singleton courses and AICE/AP courses with our instructors • Canvas is the learning platform that we will be utilizing for both methods – this will ensure seamless transitions • Program used by many colleges and universities • Hybrid class – stand alone – are classes taught completely virtually with all virtual online students
