What To Expect As A 6 th Grader The start of the school day

What To Expect As A 6 th Grader The start of the school day Students may arrive by 9: 15 AM and the school doors will open at 9: 20 AM. Breakfast begins at Class schedules and times PPMS will operate a straight 7 period schedule with 47 minute class periods 9: 20 AM. First signaling bell rings for classes at 9: 35 AM and classes begin IMMEDIATELY at 9: 40 AM. Students are to be in class, in your seat and prepared to begin learning or you are considered late! Take care of personal issues before class not during class School dismissal is 4: 10 PM, however the teacher dismisses the class, not the bell!

What To Expect As A 6 th Grader How to walk in the hallway Be sure to stay to one side of the hallway when walking- students will be redirected promptly if this process is not correctly modeled! The middle of the hallway is to always be a student free zone! Behaviors to avoid Running is a behavior that is avoided, instead you are expected to walk, and will be asked to go back and walk if you are seen running-remember SAFETY FIRST!

Do’s and Don'ts for Success Do- The expectation Respect is not an option, it is a requirement and works both ways! The consequences for not following the expectations If you fail to adhere to the dress code-consequence is the ABC room for the day where you miss invaluable instructional direction and support. Failure to follow the rule will cause your cell phone to be confiscated and a parent will have to come and pick it up before or after school. Do adhere to the school dress code! Posted on the PPMS website. Cellphone free campusleave it turned off and out of sight while on campus. THIS IS NOT NEGOTIABLE!!!! Food outside of the cafeteria is not acceptable-example, no chips, hot fries, or drinks permitted on campus. NO EXCEPTIONS! The consequences of failing to abide by any of these guidelines means that there are choices that will have to be made that will result in a negative impact, and these are all avoidable offenses so there shouldn’t be a reason to break any of them!

Classroom Supplies Examples of supplies include paper, pencils, pens, composition tablets and folders, it is not the teacher’s responsibility to provide supplies daily so please plan in advance to be prepared for success. Please know we will make every attempt to assist with supplies, however understand that a teacher may provide resources if they so desire but they are not obligated to do so, please plan accordingly. Students will be permitted to carry their backpacks, due to construction. Students are expected to follow the direction of faculty and staff in regard to placement of the backpack in the classrooms, media center, cafeteria, etc.

If your student will be out sick or missing school, parents/guardians need to call the 6 th grade office to report the absence.
