U. K. Prime Minister Gordon Brown and United Nations Development Program Administrator Kemal Dervis are set to welcome some 80 chief executives of multinationals in a forum that would highlight the importance of the role of the corporate world in poverty fight. At the “Business Call to Action, ” several of these magnates will talk about their company’s antipoverty efforts. “This year must be a year of action if we are to tackle the development emergency we face. Without an extraordinary effort, we will fail, ” Brown stated. “Businesses are engines of growth and sustainable development.
