Good blogging Show evidence of independent research: - Quoting from texts. - Paraphrasing texts. - Introducing others’ ideas. - Arguing for or against others’ ideas. - Applying ideas to phenomena that interest you. - Introducing your own ideas. - SHOW understanding of words, terms and ideas by using and applying them.
Good blogging continued… • Correct Referencing and more: - Use Harvard system of referencing. - Reference/cite others’ work if you have used their ideas or their words. - Avoid secondary citations - Use links and images to support your arguments. - Comment on the work of your peers.
Good blogging continued… Writing style: - Discursive and reflective – can use first person. - Clear and concise. - Good punctuation, grammar and spelling (use spell check). - Balance between formal and informal style - Consistency of tone.
Poor blogging Plagiarism: - Failing to correctly cite the work of others. - Passing someone else’s work off as your own. - Use Turnitin if in doubt. - YOU WILL NOT GET AWAY WITH PLAGIARISM, it is easily detected. - If in doubt about whether you have plagiarised please see Tim or Sophie.
