1. Counselors will meet with rising Seniors to discuss graduation requirements, the students’ academic program, and future plans while completing the senior contracts. 2. Parents should be aware of courses students have taken and credits earned. Transcripts can be found on School Max to chart progress. 3. Review the 2018 -2019 schedule, available on School Max, in early August to ensure accuracy. Course requests are currently available to view in school max.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS STUDENTS MUST Earn a minimum of 21 credits including 4 English 3

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS STUDENTS MUST Earn a minimum of 21 credits including 4 English 3 Mathematics (Must include Algebra 1 and Geometry) Must be enrolled all four years 3 Social Studies ( U. S. History, Government, World History) 3 Science (including Biology) 1 Fine Arts Foundations of Technology ½ Physical Education ½ Health Education Complete a state-approved pathway to graduation which includes either 2 Foreign Language Credits OR 2 Advanced Technology Credits OR Completion of a state approved career and technology program such as Career Cooperative Education (work study) Pro Start, Child Growth Development Complete 24 hours of student service. High School Assessments

HSA & PARCC • 2019 GRADUATES MUST TAKE AND PASS THE HSA TESTS and must take the PARCC Tests. • Maryland Integrated Science Assessment – Students must sit for either the Biology HSA or the Maryland Integrated Science Assessment. • PARCC – English 10 (Must pass if class was taken 2016 -2017 school year or later) – Algebra 1 (Must pass if class was taken 2016 -2017 school year or later) • HSA Passing Scores: Government-394

The contract must be returned with the signature of a parent.

In early fall, counselors will conduct an orientation on the college application process and procedures in all Senior English classes. Students will be given a folder of information to help with this process. Students should prepare a resume. (Naviance) Be mindful of priority deadlines when applying to colleges. • Counselors require a minimum of 15 business days prior notice to complete an application or letter of recommendation.

RECOMMENDATIONS • Seniors who need a letter of recommendation or a secondary school report for college applications should do the following: • Complete a thorough resume or a Personal Data Form (located in the counseling office) Turn in resume/Form and or application to your School Counselor. • Give 15 business days to complete letter of recommendation. • Students must pick up their letter of recommendation/ application. Counseling office will not mail applications to the college.

Transcript Request • Students should: • Submit the permission to release information form, which can be found in both North and South Counseling Offices, with the appropriate signatures (needs to be submitted one time only). • Submit a transcript request form (one must be filled out every time a transcript is requested). • Give the School Counseling Secretary three –five business days to generate transcript. • Return to pick up transcript (Counseling Office will not mail or fax transcripts).
