Making co-production work • People are not passive recipients – They have assets and expertise which can help improve services • Co-production is potentially transformative – A way of thinking about power, resources, partnerships, risks and outcomes – It isn’t an off-the-shelf model of provision • To act as partners, both users and providers must be empowered – Involving citizens in collaborative relationsihps with more empowered frontline staff – All confident to share power and accept user expertise – Staff can be trained in the benefits of co-production, positive risktaking and identifying new opportunities for collaboration
