TRADOS Using the Tag. Editor • Before starting any TRADOS job, a TM or

Editor • Before starting any TRADOS job, a TM or the Translator’s Workbench must be opened first. • If the file for translation looks like (. ttx file) then it should just be double-clicked • If the source file is in RTF or doc format, open the file and arrange setting by going to Tools>Templates and Add-Ins>Templates tab. • Click on the checkbox beside TRADOS. dot (or other version eg. TRADOS 8. dot) and make sure that other checkboxes are cleared. • Select OK

TRADOS • To begin translation, press Alt Home, the blue space is the source

TRADOS • To begin translation, press Alt Home, the blue space is the source text and the space below it (yellow or blue) is where the target should be placed. Yellow space indicates a fuzzy match or a completely new word, while the Green space indicates 100% match in the TM. • To transfer to the next translatable segment press Alt + , this would only work if you are using a desktop pc, for laptops, you may click on the appropriate icon on the TRADOS toolbar on the upper part of the screen

TRADOS • If you want to change a particular segment or word you can perform the ‘Find’ option by pressing Ctrl+F • To save as a bilingual file, just click on the disk icon on the upper left of the screen. • If the client will ask for the clean version, for Tag Editor, go to File>Save Target As, make sure that the RTF, XML or DOC source file is beside the ttx file. For Word files, you have to save it as it is first and proceed with cleaning the file using Translator’s Workbench
