Title I Annual Parent Meeting Title I is a federally funded program under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Purpose of Title I: • To help low-achieving students meet the state’s challenging academic content and performance standards How does our school spend Title I money? • Salaries for additional teachers and support staff, educational resources and programs, professional development, and parent involvement activities.
Title I Programs: • Help children succeed in school and build confidence • Help teachers understand the needs and concerns of students and parents • Help parents understand their child’s needs and become more involved in the child’s education
Why do we participate in Title I? Our school qualifies for federal funds based on economic need (percentage of students receiving free/reduced lunch). What are the Title I requirements? • Comprehensive Needs Assessment • Develop Schoolwide Improvement Plan • Instruction by highly qualified teachers • Professional learning for teachers • Parent involvement resources & strategies

WRCCA Schoolwide Program • A School Wide Improvement Plan has been developed based on our comprehensive needs assessment and parent surveys and feedback completed in the Spring and Summer of 2020. • WRCCA Board of Directors parent members help provide suggestions/recommendations and advisement on all matters related to parent involvement.
Programs to support students: • Read 180 and Math 180 • Study Skills/Study Hall • Freshman Seminar • After School Tutoring • USA Test Prep • Bi-weekly progress monitoring
What assessments will your child be given? Curriculum: Georgia Standards of Excellence Assessments used to measure student progress: GA Milestones EOC’s, Edgenuity, PSAT, Accuplacer, SRI (Lexile), Teacher-generated assessments/projects Proficiency Levels: Level 1 – Beginning Level 2 – Developing Level 3 – Proficient Level 4 - Distinguished
Title I Parent Involvement Funding • Title I schools set aside money for parent involvement. Parents have input into how money is spent. • Used specifically for identified areas of need. • Parent resources, newsletters, and publications • Supplies for parent engagement activities • Parent Engagement Conferences
Why Parent Involvement? v. Achieve at higher levels than other children v. Are more likely to attend college v. Are more likely to have high paying jobs v. Have fewer discipline problems v. Attend school regularly v. Have high sense of self-worth and selfesteem
Parent/Student/Teacher Compact Shared with each student during orientation
Parents have a right… • To become involved in the school and your child’s education • To request teacher qualifications • To be notified if child has been taught by a non-highly qualified teacher for more than four weeks
