I & Me (Mead) • Through role-taking, individuals develop a sense of self. The self consists of two related parts. (I and Me) – I is the unsocialized, spontaneous, selfinterested component of personality and selfidentity. – Me is the part of our self that is aware of the expectations and attitudes of society – the socialized self.
