 • Minor parties play a “spoiler” or “vote raider” role in presidential elections.

• Minor parties play a “spoiler” or “vote raider” role in presidential elections. They also force major candidates to discuss a controversial issue. • Major party candidates tend to “steal” issues from minor parties’ platforms. • Some of the most active today include the Reform, Libertarian, Natural Law, Constitution, Socialist, Prohibition and Green parties.
