2018 Activities Cultural Heritage investigations 2018 Ancient Etruscan remains analysis in collaboration with Prof. Belcastro
Bones (of child or animal) found near a wall of a temple on the Etruscan site of Marzabotto (ancient town near Bologna). Bad state of preservation of skeletal findings. Acquired from a "block of ground ” technique. Our group, together with Giovanna Belcastro (UNIBO), is studying for a 3 D reconstruction of the skeleton image. Roma, March 2018 - PTA 4

2018 Activities Milestone 1: Hardware upgrade of the mobile CT system for large-scale objects; Milestone 2: Development of innovative methodologies for 3 D tomography reconstruction, analysis, rendering and dissemination - including 3 D printers; Milestone 3: Completion of the CT facility of the View. Lab; Milestone 4: Acquisition of a 3 D holographic pyramid to visualize the CT analyses of works of art.
2018 Activities Milestone 1: Hardware upgrade of the mobile CT system for large-scale objects Implementation of similar carbon fibers translational axes is strongly discouraged. An ex-novo design is required.
2018 Activities Milestone 2: Innovative methodologies for 3 D tomography reconstruction, analysis, rendering and dissemination - including 3 D printers Use and distribution of 3 D open-source rendering software easily accessible for restorers and museums 3 D Printed tomographic results - in collaboration with the Mechanical Workshop of INFN (Bologna). Now in exhibition at Faenza: Aztec, Maya, Inca and the Cultures of the Ancient America, 11 th November to 28 th April 2019

Plan of Activities 2019 -2021 Milestones Milestone 1: Hardware upgrade of the mobile CT system for large-scale objects: ex-novo design of the translational axes and Hexapod motors for automatic alignment • • Ex-novo design of the translational axes Purchase of an hexapod motor for automatic alignment Milestone 2: Completion and fully operability of the CT facility of the View. Lab • Once the cabinet characteristics will be defined by the qualified expert in radiation protection we will proceed to the instruments purchase and installation
Plan of Activities 2019 -2021 Milestones Milestone 3: Development of a new project, in collaboration with the “Museo Archeologico Regionale Lilibeo – Marsala”, for scientific investigation and dissemination of the Museum collection • Tomographic investigation (in situ and in Bologna) of a selected part of the collection; • Development of innovative systems for dissemination of scientific investigations, such as holograms of 3 D-CT renderings and 3 D printed objects; • Development of innovative systems for historical information dissemination as informative videos and animations– where appropriate in collaboration with external partners Milestone 4: Research and development of different tomographic techniques to be developed for in situ Cultural Heritage investigations • Dual Energy Tomography: designed to increase the visibility of low absorbing materials (e. g. soft tissue) and minimize metal artifact; it is now available only for medical applications; • Possible collaboration with private companies.
Plan of Activities 2019 -2021 Milestones 2019 Milestone 1: Ex-novo design of the translational axes Milestone 2: Completion of the CT facility of the View.
