Romans Chapter 5

Key Verse: Romans 5: 1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace

Key Verse: Romans 5: 1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

5: 1 -5 Verses 1 -2 Because we have been justified by our Lord

5: 1 -5 Verses 1 -2 Because we have been justified by our Lord Jesus Christ we can rejoice and have peace. We don’t have to worry about the things Paul talks about in the first 4 chapters because we are now saved from those things. Verses 3 -5 3 -4 More than the fact that we are okay before God is the idea that the bad things that happen to us are not for our condemnation but for our good. 5 and we know that these things are for our good instead of our condemnation because the H. S. that lives in us tells us.

5: 6 -11 Verses 6 -8 God loved/loves us so much that he sent

5: 6 -11 Verses 6 -8 God loved/loves us so much that he sent his son down to die for us while we were actively waging war against him in our own hearts. Verses 9 -10 Christ’s death makes us friends with God and in right standing before him. We were made justified by his payment of blood and we were made reconciled by his resurrection to a life of friendship with God. Verse 11 and it because of all of this that we as Christians can rejoice. We can celebrate because of what Christ has done for us and made us.

5: 12 -14 Verse 12 The sin of Adam lead to death, both spiritual

5: 12 -14 Verse 12 The sin of Adam lead to death, both spiritual and physical. And this death was passed to us because we too have sinned. Verses 13 -14 Even before the law Man was sinning because they were disobeying God by there own knowledge of what is right and wrong.

5: 15 -17 Verse 15 Christ’s free gift is better than the course in

5: 15 -17 Verse 15 Christ’s free gift is better than the course in the fact that one sin caused death to everyman but Christ’s justification can save everyman. One man brought death to everyman and one mans righteousness can bring new life to everyman. Verse 16 the act of Christ also is much greater than the sin of Adam. One sin caused death to everyman but Christ’s righteousness covers every sin of everyman. Verse 17 the act of Adam means that everyone is now born with a bent to sin but the resurrection means that we, as followers of Christ, can now live a life of righteousness.

5: 18 -21 Verses 18 -19 Christ bought eternal life for all that would

5: 18 -21 Verses 18 -19 Christ bought eternal life for all that would believe in him. The act of Adam brought eternal death. Verses Verse 20 -21 The law brought about a new way to be sinful and to condemn one’s self but where the law came grace also abounds. God’s grace can cover any and all sins; no matter why or what.
