¿QUÉ ENTENDEMOS POR EDUCACIÓN? WHAT WE UNDERSTAND BY EDUCATION?

Hablamos de educación cuando hay un lazo entre dos personas: El educando y el educador. Talk about education when there is a bond between two people: The learner and the educator.

Si bien, hay distintos propuestas pedagógicas, laicas y religiosas, nos centraremos en la propuesta educativa de las Escuelas Católicas y el rol de la Comunidad Educativa, concebida en ella no como centro católico desde una mera comunidad escolar formalmente constituida en el marco de la legalidad vigente, sino más bien como una comunidad educativa “auténtica” que comparte un mismo ideario pedagógico y está comprometida en su desarrollo congruente. Even though, there are various educational, religious and secular proposals, we will focus on the educational proposal of Catholic Schools and the role of the Educative Community, which is conceived in the proposal not as a Catholic institution from a mere school community formally constituted under the framework of the law in force, but as an “authentic” educational community sharing common pedagogical ideas that are committed to its consistent development.

LA EDUCACIÓN, DESDE LA MIRADA DE LA IGLESIA. EDUCATION, FROM THE CHURCH´S PERSPECTIVE

Como centros educativos debemos hacernos ésta pregunta y reflexionar sobre ello. Santo Padre Francisco La educación católica es uno de los desafíos más importantes de la Iglesia, dedicada hoy en realizar la nueva evangelización en un contexto histórico y cultural en constante transformación. Valor del Diálogo Las escuelas y las universidades católicas son frecuentadas por muchos alumnos no cristianos e incluso no creyentes. Las instituciones educativas católicas ofrecen a todos una propuesta educativa que mira al desarrollo integral de la persona y responde al derecho de todos a tener acceso al saber y al conocimiento. Pero de igual modo están llamadas a ofrecer a todos, con pleno respeto de la libertad de cada uno y de los métodos propios del ambiente escolástico, la propuesta cristiana, es decir, a Jesucristo como sentido de la vida, del cosmos y de la historia. Value of Dialogue Catholic schools and universities are attended by many non-Christian and even nonbelieving students. Catholic educational establishments offer an educational proposal that looks toward the integral development of a person and responds to the rights of everyone to have access to learning and knowledge. Likewise, the Christian proposals are offered to everyone, with full respect for their freedom and the methods of the scholastic environment, in other words, Jesus Christ as the meaning of life, the cosmos and history.

Preparación Cualificada de los educadores Quiero limitarme a recordar los rasgos de la figura del educador y de su tarea específica. Educar es un acto de amor, es dar vida. Y el amor es exigente, pide utilizar los mejores recursos, despertar la pasión y ponerse en camino con paciencia junto a los jóvenes. En las escuelas católicas el educador debe ser, ante todo, muy competente, cualificado y, al mismo tiempo, rico en humanidad, capaz de estar en medio de los jóvenes con estilo pedagógico para promover su crecimiento humano y espiritual. Los jóvenes tienen necesidad de calidad en la enseñanza y, a la vez, de valores, no sólo enunciados sino también testimoniados. La coherencia es un factor indispensable en la educación de los jóvenes. No se puede hacer crecer, no se puede educar sin coherencia: coherencia, testimonio. El último aspecto atañe a las instituciones educativas, o sea, las escuelas y las universidades católicas y eclesiásticas … nos inducen a reflexionar seriamente sobre las numerosas instituciones formativas esparcidas por todo el mundo y sobre su responsabilidad de expresar una presencia viva del Evangelio en el campo de la educación, de la ciencia y de la cultura. Es preciso que las instituciones académicas católicas no se aíslen del mundo, sino que entren con valentía en el areópago de las culturas actuales y dialoguen, conscientes del don que tienen para ofrecer a todos. The last aspect concerns educational establishments, in other words, Catholic and ecclesial schools and universities. They induce us to think seriously about numerous educational establishments scattered throughout the world and their responsibility of expressing a living presence of the Gospel in the field of education, science and culture. It is necessary that Catholic academic institutions are not isolated from the world, but enter boldly in the Areopagus of existing cultures to have discussions with awareness of the gift they have to offer everyone.

Como primer desafío está el trabajar lo que significa “Comunidad Educativa”, debemos cambiar nuestro paradigma, y trabajar en comunión con todos los actores de ésta: equipos de dirección, equipos docentes, familia y estudiantes. We have to change our paradigm and work in communion with all of the key actors: management teams, teaching staff, family, and students.

El revisar los documentos institucionales como: Idearios de los colegios, las propuestas curriculares y Proyecto Educativo Institucional, los cuales deben estar en sintonía, ser elaborados o revisados por los distintos actores de la comunidad educativa, y trabajar en difusión de éstos. Estos deben tener una clara línea pastoral. Los equipos directivos o de conducción juegan un rol determinantes en todo éste proceso, ya que deben ser ellos que encabecen éstos cambios al interior de la comunidad educativa, de manera activa y liderando en todo momento.
