He spent many years trying to get someone to pay for his voyage. When he found land it was a small island the Bahamas. He had some problems being a local governor at one point he was arrested for behavior and mistreating other colonists. Finally king Ferdinand queen Isabella to pay for his trip. All about CRISTOPHER COLUMBUS by Ethan Harper Christopher Columbus was born on 1451. Cristopher was an explorer and wanted to be the first person to explore Asia. He thought he could sale west to reach Asia. Some obstacles for Christopher were getting sea sick, navigating ships, making maps, and getting sea sick. He accomplished discovering America. In America he discovered San Salvador, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Trinidad, and West Indies. He took 6 trips from 1492 to 1502. He was put in jail and died on 1506.

Where did they go? The first place that Henry went to was a island called Spitsbergen in 1607. His crew and him went on a ship called Hopewell. They kept going north until they ran into ice. Hudson tried to find a way through the ice but he finally decided to go back. What did he accomplish? They discovered a bay full of whales and walruses in Spitsbergen. Henry sailed south and found a river. He called the river The Hudson River. How many trips ? Henry sailed to North America and Greenland. He sailed to Greenland in 1607. Death Henry Hudson died from starvation and cold weather.

The Search For The Northwest Passage �In 1535, Jacques Cartier and 112 more men left France and sailed up the St. Lawrence river to the Iroquoian capital of Stadacona. He reached the location of Modern-day Montreal on October 2, 1535, rapids prevented him from continuing. Cartier believed the rapids were the last obstacle in his discovery of the Northwest Passage. These days the town on the banks of the rapids is called Lachine, (Lachine is French for China). �The ideal plan was to find Asia but instead Cartier found an area in Canada. So Jacques Cartier failed on his mission to Asia but found a new piece of land in Canada.
