I. Stones and Thrones (43: 8 -13) • Jeremiah and Baruch have been dragged along to Egypt. (see 43: 1 -7) • God speaks to Jeremiah, tells him to hide stones outside of Pharaoh’s palace. (8 -9) • The message: God will send Nebuch. to set up his throne on top of these stones! (10) • Just as God used Babylon to destroy Judah, He will do the same to Egypt—the land taken and temples burned with fire. (11 -13)
II. Have You Forgotten? (44: 1 -14) • Message for the Jews in Egypt: (1) • You saw the destruction of Judah because of their wickedness and idolatry. (2 -3) • God sent prophets to warn them, but they didn’t listen, became a desolation. (4 -6) • Why are you now sacrificing to other gods in Egypt? Have you forgotten? (7 -9)
II. Have You Forgotten? (44: 1 -14) • You are not contrite, don’t fear God. (10) • God has set His face against them so that they will be destroyed in Egypt. (11 -12) • They will experience the same punishment as Judah, only a few will return. (13 -14)
III. Whose Word Will Stand (44: 1530) • The Jews listening—whose wives had been sacrificing to the “queen of heaven”: We will not listen to you.
