CONSTRUCTION A Major Civil Construction project involved Godwin products at several points during the project. HL 160 Pumps were used for jetting the piles for the bridge supports. CD 150’s were used for ballasting on barges which transported the bridge sections. Submersible units were also used to circulate cooling water. 7 This application Example is a typical wellpointing application Whereby wellpointing spears are introduced at intervals around the area to be dewatered. And via a ring main pipe work system the area is dewatered. This application is particularly suited to New Godwin Vac Prime range of pumps.
MINING 8
Mining applications • • • 9 Dewatering Wellpointing Dust suppression Water treatment Flood defence Temporary water supply Process water supply Slurry Pumping Tailings Water Pumping Contingency plans/site audit Pumps Suitable for these Applications • • NC series CD series Heidra series Vac Prime series
MINING - Mine Dewatering and Flood Contingency The Queensland floods brought Australia’s $50 billion coal industry to its knees as water began to fill the mines in December 2010. 3 x HL 260 / Caterpillar C 27 pontoon mounted pump units were installed along with 6 more similar units to cope with the day to day dewatering 10 requirements of one of Australia's largest coal mines. The system was also designed to cope with flood conditions such as those experienced in 2010. Combined maximum flow capacity 3250 m 3 / hr
MINING This application example utilises a HL 110 to provide mine water for the mine wash plant. 11
HEAVY INDUSTRY 12
Heavy Industry applications • • • 13 Process pumping Flood Control/risk Dewatering Over pumping Dust suppression Treatment Slurry pumping Contingency plans/site audit Cooling media Pumps Suitable for these Applications • • NC series CD series HL series Heidra series
OIL & GAS 14
Oil & Gas applications • • • 15 Process pumping Temporary fire system Dewatering Over-pumping Treatment Slurry pumping Contingency plans/site audit Pigging of Pipelines Pressure/line testing Tank Cleaning Off-Shore (Dredging) Pumps Suitable for these Applications • CD series • HL series • Heidra series – DB Norway Fire pumps
DRILLING MUD Pumping cooling medium (mud) to the drill head to keep the head clear or build ups Flushes cuttings/tailings away form the drilling head of any obstruent. Back to settlement tank where the tailings and coolant are separated Coolant is recycled for reuse. 16
GAS FRACKING Sourcing of water • Water level monitoring and control • Pumping to pond • Control pump rate and volume • Recirculation to prevent freezing • Pond to pad • Well Completion • Well Production • Recycling • Disposal Customer needs • Reliable equipment • Fast delivery, 24/7 • Back-up pumping capacity to avoid downtime • EHS compliance 17
CASE STUDY – SHELL OIL Customer Issue Supply 315 m 3/h 3 miles down single lane dirt road, and storage of water not immediately used. Godwin Solution Fuse 3 mile 12” HDPE pipeline, from tanker offload to pad. HL 225 M pump and booster, Godwin labour. Customer Benefits Lower cost, reduced environmental impact, improved safety with fewer vehicles and pieces of machinery, more reliable water supply. 18
Other applications • Power Generation • Environmental Disaster & Flood Control • Off-shore • Barge Ballast Pumping • Commissioning • Temporary Fire System • Line Pigging • Marine Cable-Trenching 19
POWER GENERATION Case Study: Hanford Tank Farm Clean-up • Provide cooling river media during essential maintenance program on power station cooling towers. • 8, 000 cubic meters an hr. @ 20 m/head • Over a two month period 20 • 12 x CD 400 M electric sets running @1100 rpm, each set delivering 1500 m³/hr. @ 20 m TDH, (4 duty, 4 duty/assist, 4 stand by). • Pipe works, ancillaries, M&C, pump watch and labour.
ENVIROMENTAL DISASTER & FLOOD CONTROL • 2 x CD 500 M’s were deployed to Case Study: Dupage River Bypass help protect a main city sub station from potential flood risk thus ensuring the uninterrupted supply to 1, 000’s of homes and businesses. • Units were readily available to be transported to site, installed, commissioned and monitored throughout the duration of the application, on rental rate • Equipment mobilized and left at local branch on a minimal retainer rate • Contingency plans in high risk areas 21
OFF-SHORE – Barge Ballast Pumping • Suitable for companies wishing to transport abnormal loads by sea. • Normally CD range, pipe work • Barge is unstable in water when un-laden, pumps are utilised to pump sea water in the ballast tanks to stabilise • As barge is laden with load, ballast water is pumped out • In some instances disinfected and needs to be treated, see Wedeco products 22
23
OFF SHORE - COMMISSIONING When the modules are at sea, they use sea water as their cooling medium The two main applications are 1) Pumping seawater from the dockside through filtration system into the module to provide cooling required to on-board equipment 2) Closed loop system with water reservoir through a filtration system into the module, that gains heat whilst cooling equipment, then pumped back via a heat exchanger 24
TEMPORARY FIRE SYSTEM • Provide fire coverage whilst the primary fire suppression system is undergoing critical maintenance/repair • The applications can be offshore, industrial, manufacturing or anywhere that fire protection is required • With fire risk, pressurised water is required instantaneously • Normally HL pumps, diesel or electric • Godwin offers pumps, fire hose, relief valves, monitoring and control, pump watch and engineering labour. • Case Study : Baltic Flood Combat 25
TEMPORARY FIRE SYSTEM Case Study : Baltic Flood Combat • The client needed instantaneous water flow at full pressure on demand during decommissioning of a old naval warship. • The HL 125 M Electric set delivered the main duty, running continuous via a IP rated VFD. • The pressurised water was recirculated back to the dock through a pressure rated unloader valve, as the fire hose nozzle was opened the unloader would shut effectively delivering full pressure and flow to the required area. 26
LINE PIGGING • Mechanical pig, i. e. shuttle • Pumps provide high pressure water to rotate and traverse the “pig” through the pipeline • In effect cleaning and loosening any build-up of scale or sedimentary deposits within pipe work. Suitable for • Marine line pigging • Oil and gas pipeline • Any general application that require pipe line scoured 27
MARINE CABLE-TRENCHING • Utilises HL series jet a channel in seabed for laying telecommunication cables 28
