University of Exeter 1 place for up to one year The exchange is now with the School of Modern Languages (teaching partly in English, partly in other languages). While Film Studies and Drama are part of Modern Languages, our students will not be admitted to those subunits, only to the language divisions. The English Department offers only one course and only if students stay for 9 months. English Department courses cover literature and cultural studies; Exeter does not have a linguistics department. The place can be useful for LA students with German Studies or for BA students wishing to cover Alternative Erweiterungen. Exeter University is a small university, and this as well as its numerous student societies facilitates quick integration. Application deadline: 15 Februar 2017 • Apply only ONCE for the two departmental programmes (Viola, Wittmann). The deadline and requirements are identical. • Application requirements: application form and a typed motivation letter in English (one to two pages (DO NOT write more than two pages; do not submit reference letters etc. ). A small passport-sized picture should be included on the first page of your letter. No more than four universities should be selected, and they should all be dealt with in ONE motivation letter. • Whether you submit your application in December or on the very last day will have no effect on the success of your application. The quality of your arguments and your academic credentials count. • Selection criteria include academic record so far, academic interests and in how far they fit in with the universities selected; possible plans for your thesis, other arguments you may tell us in your letter (also previous experience abroad etc. ) • Submit your application either personally with Mag. Monika or put them into the envelope at her door (or send by email attachment or post) (for February office hours, check anglistik. univie. ac. at/staff/wittmann/) • You will receive a standardised email (circular) at the beginning of March with further information. • SAVE THE DATE: Interviews will take place on 13 March 2017 (ca. 8 am – 4 pm) (Dies Academicus, i. e. no courses)
