Academic § The academic year runs from the end of February to the beginning of November and is split into 2 semesters, each with a mid-semester break: • Semester 1: February to June • Semester 2: July to November § A normal full time load per semester at Monash is 24 credit points which is 4 courses. Each semester has 13 weeks of classes followed by a 4 week exam period. www. monash. edu. au CRICOS Provider No. 00008 C 15
Academic § Assessment varies for each course but may be made up of written assignments (or tests) throughout the semester and an exam at the end of the semester. § Each course has approximately 3 – 4 contact hours per week. Most courses will consist of a 1 hour lecture and 2 – 3 hours of tutorials or a 2 hour lecture and a 2 hour tutorial. § Lectures consist of a large number of students (up to 300), then students are split into smaller, more personalised tutorial groups. § Academic support services are available for students who may need academic guidance. www. monash. edu. au CRICOS Provider No. 00008 C 16
