(If your winter gear is not purchased/received on time, you will not cheer at the events where the winter gear is needed. This is considered part of the uniform!)

Eligibility and Tryouts › › › Candidates must be enrolled in the 9 th,

Eligibility and Tryouts › › › Candidates must be enrolled in the 9 th, 10 th, or 11 th grade at Denton High School, or in the 8 th grade at a feeder middle school, at the time of tryouts in the spring. Secure an information packet/registration form. A candidate’s parent(s) or guardian must attend the scheduled orientation meeting. Submit a completed application, a signed permission slip from a parent or guardian, and other required forms to the cheerleader coach by the appropriate deadlines. � Submit a signed doctor’s release to participate in tryouts and a Medical History and Physical Examination Form prior to the beginning of the tryout clinic. A candidate must have a current physical (dating January 1 st of tryout year) confirming that he/she is physically able to complete all requirements of cheerleading, including daily jumps, cheers, tumbling, stunting and/or running conditioning. Candidates may be denied tryout due to inappropriate behavior displayed at the tryout clinic at the discretion of the head cheerleading coach and the Denton High School administration. Candidates are expected to attend tryout workshops in order to learn the tryout material. Attendance is expected, failure to participate in the workshop, mock tryouts could severely hamper the candidate’s ability to learn the material used for judging at the tryouts and therefore will/could impact their ability to make the squad

Male Score Sheet For males trying out, the dance category will be replaced by stunting. He will choose an outgoing senior cheerleader as a flyer. If an outgoing senior is not available, he will choose a flyer that is also trying out. He will have three (3) opportunities to show the judges any partner stunts that he is capable of.
