Eligibility O Behavioral standards O All athletes should be informed that they have the obligation to act in a responsible manner because of the leadership roles they play in the school environment O All student athletes much meet the behavioral requirements as established by the athletic department and coaches O Cheerleaders should have no record of suspension or referrals from teachers

Eligibility O Training standards O At the discretion of the coach O This cheerleading team evaluates based on a strict rubric O Cheerleaders agree NOT to participate in other sports that will conflict with the cheerleading schedule O Cheerleaders must cheer throughout the season in any kind of weather and in all circumstances

Attendance O Students who commit themselves to a sport are expected to be in

Attendance O Students who commit themselves to a sport are expected to be in attendance at meetings/ practices/ contests for the duration of the activity calendar. When this commitment is not fulfilled, the student’s position in the activity shall be reviewed by the coach and a recommendation of consequences shall be forwarded to higher administration for review. O Students are expected to attend ALL practices, meetings and games unless excused by the coach. It is the student’s responsibility to notify the coach, in advance, of any circumstances which would prevent the student’s participation at practice(s), contest(s), or meeting(s). Failure to comply may result in a dismissal from the team, dependent upon the nature and/or the seriousness of the offence.

Attendance O Absences from school- A student who is absent from school will not be eligible for participation in any activity session on the day she is absent. O Students will be ineligible for practice or contest participation that day if they do not sign in at the attendance office prior to the end of period 2 with a legitimate written excuse signed by a parent/ guardian in order to be eligible for participation. (Extreme circumstances must be cleared by Mrs. Fox or Coach Jackson) O Varsity Cheerleaders must attend all meetings to help prepare and clean up for YHS Homecoming O A student’s absence(s) from practice(s), meeting(s), and/ or contest(s) due to mandatory participation in school sponsored extra-help sessions will not jeopardize the student’s membership status. Please advice your coach ahead of time if this is the case.

Misconduct O As a member of a York High School sport, students should be mindful O O O O O that they represent their school community. Student members are expected to and have an obligation to conduct themselves as productive citizens both in and out of school and the community. Some offenses (not intended to be all inclusive) include: i. Poor sportsmanship ii. Stealing iii. Vandalism/ Property destruction iv. Verbal and/ or physical abuse v. Possession/ Use of drugs vi. Possession/ Use of alcohol or tobacco products vii. Hazing/ initiation ceremonies viii. Inappropriate use of modern technology Ex. cell phones, internet Penalties may lead to suspension or expulsion from the team, as well as more long term consequences.

Rules O Treat others the way you would like to be treated O Be a good citizen (on the team and in the community) O Be where you are supposed to be when you are supposed to be there O Call in advance when you will be late or absent O ~ I expect to be contacted by you or a parent or guardian, not a friend O Do not leave the practice area, or game with out the permission of your coach O Must ride the bus to away games O When riding with the football/basketball team cheerleaders must sit in the front with another cheerleader O All practices must be performed under the supervision of a coach.

Rules O Appropriate attire for cheerleading is required O O O at all times T-Shirt (no spaghetti straps, nothing low cut) Shorts with no writing Hair in a ponytail or out of face no barrettes can be worm No long or fake nails (nails must not be longer than the finger tip) No extreme hair colors (it should look natural)

This includes parents! Pay attention Be safe not sorry

Only two girls at home games are allowed to miss at a time Promote school spirit at all times Must participate in fundraising Must maintain a positive attitude
