Focus on User- Centered site design Referring to web-site design the importance of human–computer interaction is high. User-centered design starts with understanding the nature and variation within the user groups. Issues to consider for site design includes: ● Who are the important users? ● What is their purpose in accessing the site? ● How frequently will they visit the site? ● What experience and expertise do they have? ● What nationality are they? Can they read English? ● What type of information are they looking for? ● How will they want to use the information: read it on the screen, print it or download it? ● What type of browsers will they use? Information Architecture and Site Map Information Architecture: ● The combination of organization, labeling, and navigation schemes within an information system. ● The structural design of an information space to facilitate task completion and intuitive access to content. ● The art and science of structuring and classifying web sites and intranets to help people find and manage information. Elements of site design Once the requirements of the user are established we can turn our attention to the design of the human–computer interface. Three main elements of site design can be interpreted are as follows: 1. Site design and structure – the overall structure of the site. 2. Page design – the layout of individual pages. 3. Maintenance Process and Responsibilities Different tasks involved in the maintenance process are as follows: 1. Write: This stage involves writing copy and if necessary, designing the layout of copy and associated images. 2. Review. An independent review of the copy is necessary to check for errors before a document is published. It may be done by one person or several people covering different aspects such as image, marketing copy, legality etc. 3. Correct. It is clear as it involves updates necessary as a result of stage 2. 4. Publish (to test environment). It involves putting the corrected copy on a web page and check further in a test environment within the company. 5. Test. Before the completed web page is made available over the Internet a final test will be required for technical issues such as whether the page loads successfully on different browsers?

Performance Management and Measurement The processes and systems intended to monitor and improve the performance of an organization and specific management activities such as Internet marketing are widely known as ‘performance management systems’ and are based on the study of performance measurement systems. This is measured by the following Steps. 1. Creating a performance management system 2. Defining the performance metrics framework ● Are corporate objectives identified in the Internet marketing strategy being met? ● Are marketing objectives defined in the Internet marketing strategy and plan achieved? ● Are marketing communications objectives identified in the Internet marketing plan achieved? ● How efficient are the different promotional techniques used to attract visitors to a site? 3.
