The goal of external evaluation is to promote the improvement of schools for the better quality of (self-) development and better achievements of students. Tasks: 2. advising school heads and teachers on school improvement. 5. initiate improvement of existing and creation of new assistance and consultation forms for school, teachers, students and their parents.

UDA IKASTAROAK / CURSOS DE VERANO / SUMMER COURSES UPV / EHU SL competence and management performance evaluation/certification The main target for the SL is a professional management of a school ensuring the effective improvement of all activities directed to students‘ education. • Objectives: 1. self-evaluate and evaluate managerial competence, performance, provide adequate qualification category and provide managerial activity development; 2. promote operational efficiency in implementing the national education policy and seeking for a high quality education of students.

Presentation 3 areas of activity according to 12 criteria: 1 domain. The knowledge in the field of education policy, school policy creation and implementation (5 criteria). 2 domain. Educational process management (4 criteria): 3 domain. Management of human and material resources (3 criteria)

Commission made up of certified expert: • the school founder’s representatives • other school heads • SL (in most cases school leader team) performance evaluation/certification is compulsory every 5 years: ü For higher qualification categories - according to 12 criteria. ü For the same qualification category - according to 4 obligatory criteria. 2 -4 experts of management • evaluate the activity of the leader • suggests the Certification Commission to award or not with desired category. • SL can submit a request for a higher category after 3 years. 3 managerial categories (the 3 rd, 2 nd, 1 st) represent a sequence of career steps and are associated with salary supplement.
