Ontario’s Immigration Strategy - attracting highly skilled workers and their families, supporting diverse communities and growing a globally-connected economy. Municipalities are neither mandated nor funded to provide immigrant support services, but of necessity and in recognition of the value new immigrants bring to communities, municipalities are integrating immigrant needs into their budgets and service plans. New Canadians Center Peterborough (NCC) 6 �Started as Peterborough Newcomer Language Orientation Committee (PNLOC) in 1979 to sponsor refugees fleeing the communist regime in Vietnam �In 1987 the New Canadians Centre Peterborough was born as a not-for-profit. �In 1993, it became necessary for NCC to offer increased immigration-related services, such as information, support, and provision of application packages. �In 1998 they began offering employment assistance to clients.
