ACS Data Subscription Background • • • The ACSData. Subscription Web Service is based

ACS Data Subscription Background • • • The ACSData. Subscription Web Service is based off connections to other FAA internal and external systems. These systems are: SAA, NAV Lean, SAMS/MADE, other AIMM sources. ACSData. Subscription – The ACS Data Subscription Service is a WS-Notification (WSN) service, which is a standard that describes a publish/subscribe messaging model implemented over Web Services. The WS-Notification standard is defined by combining the following OASIS specifications: WS-Topics, WS-Base. Notification, and WS-Brokered. Notification. The service allows consumers to subscribe to notifications of updates to aeronautical information. Consumers can use this service to create and manage their subscriptions. The service allows users to create and manage Pull. Points, which is a resource used to accumulate notification messages, that can later be retrieved at requested intervals. The service consumers of the ACS Web Service will be comprised of the following users: Airlines, General Aviation, Airports, Department of Defense (Do. D), Third Party Providers, and the general public. ACS Data Subscription Service will provide a publish/subscribe function that notifies subscribers when there is a change to the AI Data The ACSData. Subscription Web Service has eight Categories are as follows: – – – – Agency Infrastructure Service Agency Service Air Transportation Information Service Air Transportation Infrastructure Service Air Transportation Service Aircraft Information Service Aircraft Service Operational Context / Use Case Focus Group March 26, 2020 • Special Use Airspace (SAA) • Navigation Procedures Project (NAV Lean) • Special Use Airspace Management System (SAMS) • Military Airspace Management System (MADE) • Aeronautical Information Management Modernization (AIMM) Federal Aviation Administration 7

Sourcing ACS • The ACS Data Service is provided by the Aeronautical Information Management

Sourcing ACS • The ACS Data Service is provided by the Aeronautical Information Management (AIM) directorate. AIM is the authoritative government source for collecting, validating, storing, maintaining, and disseminating aeronautical data concerning the United States and its territories to support real-time aviation activities Operational Context / Use Case Focus Group March 26, 2020 Federal Aviation Administration 8

ACS Data Query Background • ACS Data Query Service collects data from designated authoritative sources, validate and verify the data, and maintain the data in a database when needed – When data is not provided in AIXM format, ACS stores this information • The ACS Data and Information Management functional capability enables this data query service – The service supports exchange of information to users for situation-tailored information gathering and operations planning. – Information will be provided using SWIM-compliant services both within the FAA NAS network and externally through the web portal via the public Internet • Data query capabilities allow internal NAS network users and external users to request and retrieve, or subscribe to, multiple user-defined subsets of aeronautical information – User-defined queries, constrained by user authority, can be stored for future reference and shared with other system users. – Custom queries can also be created to facilitate recurring automatic information subscriptions Operational Context / Use Case Focus Group March 26, 2020 Federal Aviation Administration 12

NCR Overview • NCR is a NAS Program that provides SWIM Services for parsing, storing, and correlating NAS data – Ingests data from multiple SWIM producers across NAS domains, such as aeronautical, weather, and traffic flow management – Applies constraints from above to the proposed trajectories (in 2 D, 3 D or 4 D) from authorized consumers and validates the trajectories – Performs data transformations, such as translating between units of measure and coordinate reference systems (CRS) – Provides flexible combinations of geospatial, temporal, and attribute filters for users to tailor requests (“queries”) for correlated subsets of NAS data Operational Context / Use Case Focus Group March 26, 2020 Federal Aviation Administration 22 22

NCR Overview (cont’d) • • • NCR uses Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) services and NAS Enterprise Messaging Service (NEMS) to interface with producer systems and authorized NAS and Non-NAS consumers using SWIM compliant infrastructure and interface standards. NCR uses FAA Telecommunication Infrastructure (FTI) for data transport. NCR interfaces with the following NAS producer systems: – – • Aeronautical Common Services (ACS) Traffic Flow Management System (TFMS) Common Support Services – Weather Systems (CSS-Wx) SWIM Terminal Data Distribution System (STDDS) Note: – TFMS and STDDS will be in Version 1. 0 – ACS in Rel 1. 1 – CSS-Wx not available during 1. 1 development; National Weather Service (NWS) feeds will be used in 1. 1 Operational Context / Use Case Focus Group March 26, 2020 Federal Aviation Administration 23 23

Interfacing with NCR • NCR supports two main query types: – Route: user submits route string or 3 -D/4 -D trajectory with optional spatial buffer, and NCR returns features that overlap with the route in space/time – General: user submits geometry (e. g. , circle, polygon) and NCR returns features that overlap with geometry in space/time • • For a one-time query, a Web Feature Service (WFS) returns matching features in textual format (GML), and a Web Map Service (WMS) returns matching features as image For a subscription, a Java Messaging Service (JMS) returns the source messages in AIXM or WXXM format pertaining to matching features – User may also retrieve source messages via the NCR XM Service Operational Context / Use Case Focus Group March 26, 2020 Federal Aviation Administration 25
