My. Space Vs. Facebook • • As facebook became a larger threat, My. Space had to respond. My. Space had two options: 1. Join Open. Social, a Google-sponsored opensource platform 2. Build its own proprietary platform
What should My. Space do? • To determine this we will analysis both options through cost and revenue analysis as well as determine the pros and cons of each option.

Benefits of Creating a Platform • • Allow My. Space to differentiate themselves from other social networks Be self-reliant Maintain control over revenues from application providers Allow My. Space to direct its potential growth

Best response • • After analyzing the costs and revenues we determined that creating their own platform would be the optimal choice. Although creating their own platform would be costly, it would be more beneficial in the long run. o Puts My. Space in a more of a position of power
Myspace Today! • • Myspace currently has its own developer that is compatible with Open Source. Applications developed through Myspace Developer would work with any Open Source enabled web-sites and vice versa!
