HLOOKUP � Excel's HLOOKUP function, short for horizontal lookup, can help you find specific information in large data tables such as an inventory list of parts or a large membership contact list. � HLOOKUP searches for data in rows.
HLOOKUP: Entering the Data � Do not leave blank rows or columns when entering your data. � Enter your data in rows
HLOOKUP: Set up heading � We will be looking for price for any given name.
HLOOKUP: Start the function
HLOOKUP: Lookup_Value EX: Apple � Lookup_Value: It tells HLOOKUP about which item in the database we are seeking information.
HLOOKUP: Table Array C 2: H 3, and to make it ABSOLUTE CELL REFERENCES, press F 4 � Table array is the range of data that the HLOOKUP function searches to find your information.
HLOOKUP: Row_Index_Num � The row index number indicates which row of the Table_array contains the data you are after. � For example: if the row index number is 2, it returns a value from the second row in table_array.
HLOOKUP: Rang_Lookup � The Range_lookup indicates whether you want HLOOKUP to find an exact or an approximate match. � If FALSE, HLOOKUP will only use an exact match to the Lookup_value.
HLOOKUP � Type Apple in the green cell, you will get its price in cell C 6.
VLOOKUP � Excel's VLOOKUP function, which stands for vertical lookup � It is quite the same as HLOOKUP expect that it searches data for columns.
