‘Locked Impulse’ • The definition of locked is to fasten or secure (something) with a lock. , , restrict access to the full functionality or data of (a computer, mobile phone, file, etc. ), especially by requiring a user to verify their identity with a passcode or other form of authentication. • The word locked I was appealed to because it makes the magazine sound a little more interesting, and it makes them want to find out what is inside the closed, (locked) magazine. If you saw a box in a room for example and it was locked, your first instinct would be to find out what is inside the box. • The definition for impulse is like another word for sound but a sudden strong and unreflective urge or desire to act something that causes something to happen or happen more quickly. • This grabbed my attention and reminded me of a heart beat, as it impulses and that triggered my mind to thinking of sound and how expressive it can be in different genres. • Both of the words Locked Impulse together made sense, the word locked kind of reminded me of wanting to open the magazine, to find that sudden urge or desire to act upon, and to open the magazine to view the expressive and strong music that’s in the charts.

Tag line • Renovated, Sentimental and prominent, music trends. • The word renovated is another word for updated, I think that this word is modern, interesting and unique. • The word sentimental means expressive, and I think that this is what music's all about, to express the arts in music, and I thought that this word is something that needs to be used more often. • The word prominent means famous and well known, and most of the music now a days is well known, and this will grab the audiences attention as they are more likely to buy a magazine which has a picture of some one famous on. • The words Updated, expressive and famous are used far too much and it didn’t want my magazine to sound too common but interesting, it adds a nice touch to the magazine and the last line, music trends brings it all together like a summary of the three words.

Genre • The genre of the music will be mainly be pop and a range of other genres that appeal to my target audience, (students and teenagers) that are up to date and trending right now. • I wanted to use a range of genres because I feel that sticking to one genre stereo types to one group, but with a range of genres included could appeal to a range of young people that like to keep up to date with the latest trends, which would lead to more buyers. • But also, it is highlighting the point that many people now a days like a range of music genres as there are so many different genres in the charts right now that appeal to people. • I personally think that by choosing a range of genres for this magazine will make It a little more exiting to read.

Audience: • My audience will be students, aged between 14 – 18 that are in education and like to listen to music, as well as other hobbies. They like to keep up to date with music and love to relate to the music. • Audiences aged any younger or older may not be interested, as the style and the font may not suit what they like and the music used may be either too complex for them to understand or not there in particular genres. Obviously there are no restrictions to buying this magazine, but this is on average in what I think this magazine will sell to. • This magazine will also be brought by adults as they might be giving it to there teenager as a present perhaps. • I think that this magazine will also be aimed for girls, as the magazine its self will not be that manly and they might have preferred music genres.

Magazines that interest me: • All of these magazines interest me because they all have up to date music, which is trending right now. • They also have well known people on the front covers for example Taylor swift. • The theme of each magazine is individual and interesting, and they have really though about the layout. • These magazines inspire me because they appeal to a number of people due to the large amount of genres included and up to date music.

Reader profile • Someone who would buy this magazine would be…. • A girl aged 17 years old currently still in education, (sixth form) and takes 4 A levels including Media, Textiles, ICT and English. • They tend to like to keep on top of trends, and this person relates to a lot of music at the moment and likes to express or relate to the words other wise she is not interested. • She not only loves music but she also loves fashion and likes to see her friends, were she discusses the latest music charts and what not. • She lives in a stereo typical family and hopes to go to university one day.

Editorial mission statement • “To keep students up to date with Renovated, Sentimental and prominent, music trends. ” Locked Impulse Renovated, Sentimental and prominent, music trends.

USP • It will be tough to sell my magazine, as there are so many other music magazines targeted for students and teenagers. Especially ones with up to date music, and what's trending right now, therefore I really need to think about how my magazine will stand out from all of these other magazines. • My magazine will be different to the other magazines because my theme will be unique, it will critically stereo type for older teenagers, (as most teenage magazines are for younger teenagers) and it will not include as many adverts in the magazines as this is a disturbance for readers. • The music will be properly analysed and voted to see which tracks are on the charts and there will be a website to have a sneak peak into the magazine. • There will not only be articles on up to date music, but articles, and interviews from famous singers and artists, to catch the latest gossip. • Also I will include #s and social media pages the reader can subscribe to, for more information. • A number of competition will be included and a few free downloads by entering the code provided in the magazines. This will be all familiar with my target audience, and it will also help the magazine to advertise more so.

Ideas for the front cover I like the style of this magazine as Billboard can have their title covered, as it highlights its popularity people don’t need to know the title. I think that it is really effective how Taylor swifts hair is covering the title. Also the format is consistent, using only a few colours and it has used magazine features for example a Column inch and the picture of Taylor has bleed into the magazine background. What I like about this magazine is the cute colour scheme, and I think that with Rhianna on the front cover doesn't make the colour scheme to attracted to a younger audience. I also like the use of puffs and the title is bold, with lots of information crammed on the front cover.

Ideas for the front cover This magazine caught my eye because of the stylish colour scheme and the cute black text box which I think will look really good when highlighting important information. I also like the originality of the shot, as usually they use a close up, not a medium shot. I like this cover because of the colour scheme used and the different sized text, I think that this looks really effective, and it is something I will consider when making my magazine.

Ideas for double page article On this double page, I like the use of pictures, and the white boarders around the edges of them, which make it look a little like a notice board. I also like the black and white effect as usually magazines tend to go for the white background and the black text. They have also included little puffs which I also like. I think for my magazine, the only thing I would change is to add more text. This magazine has used the note look a like background, which I thought was cute, and I like the fact that the title looks as if it has been drawn in. The purple theme also adds that stylish consistent them, . And I like how they have used a traditional capital locks for the first sentence of the article.

Ideas for double page article I am considering on using a simple font like this, as you can then make the background more interesting, and I also like the use of highlighted text for the sub titles, it is something I will consider in using. I also like the faded images in the background which doesn’t always look good, but this magazine has made it look really effective. This double page I like because of the pastel colours used, and the arrows also too look nice. The theme is consistent and I like the small backgrounds and puffs. Some think I have also noticed is the use of the logo in the top corner which is something I shall consider when making my magazine.
