N-DEx Mission N-DEx will provide law enforcement agencies with a powerful new investigative tool to search, link, analyze and share criminal justice information such as, incident/case reports, incarceration data, and parole/probation data on a national basis to a degree never before possible. 3

N-DEx Role Based Access Through Role Based Access, N-DEx users could be categorized into a role that will control the access that a user has to N-DEx and also control the ability to receive system output. Possible Roles: § Executives / Managers / Planners / CIOs § Investigators / Analysts § Technical § Patrol Each role has specific law enforcement responsibilities which will require access to the N-DEx system and the ability to perform certain functions using N-DEx system tools. 9

N-DEx Data Sensitivity Levels The entering agency categorizes data submitted to the System into levels of sensitivity upon which the dissemination of the information/data is controlled. APB Approved LEVEL 1 Sensitivity - SHARED Levels: All information contained within this level is shared. LEVEL 2 – CONDITIONALLY SHARED The system functions using strict role-based access protocols to control dissemination of information in this level. LEVEL 3 – NOT SHARED This level is reserved for the most restricted investigations and investigative information. This capability will allow agencies to submit information for sharing but control the dissemination of sensitive information to protect investigative equities. 10
