ISO’s Automotive, ITS and Communications-related Committees • ISO/TC 22 – Road vehicles • ISO/TC 204 – Intelligent transport systems • ISO/TC 241 – Road traffic safety management systems
ISO/TC 22 – Road Vehicles Covers all questions of standardization concerning compatibility, interchangeability and safety, with particular reference to terminology and test procedures (including the characteristics of instrumentation) for evaluating the performance of the following types of road vehicles and their equipment as defined in the relevant items of Article 1 of the convention on Road Traffic, Vienna in 1968 concluded under the auspices of the United Nations: • mopeds (item m); • motorcycles (item n); • motor vehicles (item p); • trailers (item q); • semi-trailers (item r); • light trailers (item s); • combination vehicles (item t); • articulated vehicles (item u). Almost 900 published international standards and 275 projects under development
TC 22 Subcommittee Structure • SC 31 Data communication • SC 32 Electrical and electronic components and general systems aspects • SC 33 Vehicle dynamics and chassis components • SC 34 Propulsion, powertrain and powertrain fluids • SC 35 Lighting and visibility • SC 36 Safety and impact testing • SC 37 Electrically propelled vehicles • SC 38 Motorcycles and mopeds • SC 39 Ergonomics • SC 40 Specific aspects for light and heavy commercial vehicles, busses and trailers • SC 41 Specific aspects for gaseous fuels
TC 22 SC 31 Scope Data communication for vehicle applications. This includes: • Data buses and protocols (including dedicated sensor communication) • V 2 X communication (including V 2 G) • Diagnostics • Test protocols • Interfaces and gateways (including those for nomadic devices) • Data formats • Standardized data content
TC 22 SC 31 Structure • JWG 1: JWG with IEC/TC 69 on Vehicle to grid communication interface (V 2 G CI) • WG 2: Vehicle diagnostic protocols • WG 3: In-vehicle networks • WG 4: Network applications • WG 5: Test equipment/Data e. Xchange formats • WG 6: Extended Vehicle/Remote diagnostics • WG 7: Electronic periodic technical inspection (e. PTI) • WG 8: Vehicle domain – Data collection system • WG 9: Sensor data interface for automated driving functions • WG 10: Extended vehicle time critical applications

TC 22 SC 32 Scope Electrical and electronic (E/E) components and cross-sectional specifications for E/E systems and components. This includes: • Wiring harness (e. g cables, connectors, interconnections) • Dedicated connectors (e. g trailer connectors, OBD -connector) • Dedicated E/E components and parts (e. g. alternators, fuses, ignition equipment) • Electromagnetic compatibility • Environmental conditions • Functional safety
TC 22 SC 32 Structure • • • WG 1: Ignition equipment WG 2: Environmental conditions WG 3: Electromagnetic compatibility WG 4: Automotive electrical cables WG 5: Fuses and circuit breakers WG 6: On-board electrical connections WG 7: Functional characteristics of starting devices and electrical generators WG 8: Functional safety WG 9: Electrical connections between towing and towed vehicles WG 10: Optical components – Test methods and requirements WG 11: Cybersecurity
TC 22 SC 32 Key Projects • ISO/SAE 21434 collaboration - Cybersecurity This document specifies requirements for cybersecurity risk management for road vehicles, their components and interfaces, throughout engineering (e. g. concept, design, development), production, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning. A framework is defined that includes requirements for cybersecurity process and a common language for communicating and managing cybersecurity risk among stakeholders. This document is applicable to road vehicles that include electrical and electronic (E/E) systems, their interfaces and their communications. This document does not prescribe specific technology or solutions related to cybersecurity.
