Married for over 27 years to Tim Mother of two wonderful boys, John & Bill I love to read, camp, work with children and cook!

I feel that we all need help in overcoming our fears at some point in our lives, adults as well as children. I was terrified at the idea of going back to school at my age!

I have learned that if it makes the children happy, do it! It does not matter if you feel foolish. Nothing will brighten a child’s day quicker than seeing their teacher in pajamas!

A trip to the local zoo is much more fun than reading about animal life cycles!

Take pride in what you do and the children will, too! Don’t forget to show them how proud you are of their work.

This year, I not only changed schools, I changed grade levels, too. I moved from second grade to Kindergarten, after much soul searching. It has been very exciting to work at a brand new school.

Additionally, I started the school’s news program, PEP-TV. Working with seventeen 4 th graders to produce our weekly morning news has been challenging, but rewarding. Hopefully, we will receive funding for the production equipment that will allow us to go live!

Children will work at the level we expect, so NEVER set your sights too low!

Work together with your teammates, other students, and your administration. The more brainpower you have working to solve a problem, the faster you will find the solution.

While we may know the newest information, our veteran teachers can help us avoid early mistakes. Talk to them, but more importantly - listen to them!

We live and work in a diverse culture. In order to reach all children, we must be as diverse as they are. Classrooms are not as we remember them, but a true melting pot. It is up to us to make sure we have all necessary ingredients for success!

We are all unique and bring different experiences to the classroom. Always be willing to volunteer when help is needed. Someday, you may be on the receiving end!

Before long, the hard work pays off. What once terrified you has made you stronger. Soon teaching will be second nature; you will wonder why you were so scared and nervous at the beginning.

Every day, give it your all! Each week, we close our news program with the reminder to “work hard and do your best. ” While it seems to be directed towards the students, I include everyone at our school!
