Tener and Obligation n Tener is used to tell what someone has to do

Tener and Obligation n Tener is used to tell what someone has to do (obligation). For this tener expression, use the formula: Tener que (to have to) + infinitive of a verb n n In this formula, tener gets conjugated. Remember that an infinitive has the –ar, -er, or –ir ending. Examples: We have to study. 1. Tenemos que estudiar. 2. Tenéis que practicar español. Y’all have to practice Spanish.

Tener and Willingness n Tener is used to tell what you feel like doing or to ask someone if they feel like doing something. For this tener expression, use the formula: Tener ganas de (to feel like) + infinitive of a verb n In this formula, tener gets conjugated. n When translated, the infinitive has “ing” on the end n Examples: A: ¿Tienes ganas de comer? Do you feel like eating? B: Sí, tengo ganas de comer porque tengo hambre. Yes, I feel like eating because I am hungry.
