Foundation language for life Since 2012, there has been a partnership between the national ‘Foundation language for life’, the city council, libraries and ROC. The goal is to reduce low literacy in the country. Princess Laurentien - ambassador

Skillhouses • A skillhouse is a place where the target audience practice their basic

Skillhouses • A skillhouse is a place where the target audience practice their basic skills with volunteers. • Mostly located in libraries or community centers. • The library coordinates the daily activities. • The ROC provides professional support to the volunteers. • Working together with local language providers • Organizing Creative activities • Taalcafé, Theater. Volunteers of the Language practice group Tasks: • To guide participants • Determine learning purpose • Practice basic Dutch language skills • Social inclusion • Possible refering to a formal course as well as other basic skill courses Tools: • Insight language levels (European Framework DSL Standard DFL) • Knowledge of materials • Different ways of work and methods (didactics)
