Routines • Please arrive at school between 8. 40 and 9. 00 • Children need to be collected at 3. 15 pm unless they go to Rainbow Club or are independent travellers • Lunch time: 12. 30 – 1. 30 • Longer morning - encourage children to bring a healthy snack for break time • If you wish to speak to your child’s teacher, please make an appointment by contacting the office, or via the year group email Year 5@colindale. barnetmail. net

Punctuality & Attendance • Coming to school every day is essential to your child’s progress, especially after so much time out of school last year. • However, should your child be unwell, please phone the school in the morning and let the office know. • If your child has any symptoms of COVID 19 – persistent cough, temperature, loss of taste or smell – you need to book a test and selfisolate until the results come back. Please let the school office know. • Remember - holidays should be taken in holiday time and if they are not, parents will be fined.

Bringing Equipment to School • Every child needs a school book bag for their library books and letters • NO back packs as we do not have room to store them • PE kits should be brought on Monday and taken home on Friday • Swimming kits must be taken home after swimming • Packed lunches to be brought in a packed lunch box or bag

Uniform • Children should look neat and tidy • Shirts all tucked in • ‘Proper’ shirts with buttons, not a polo shirt • Ties covering top button • Plain black shoes • Purple or black headscarves only PE Kit

School Website • Eco school – avoiding unnecessary use of paper and printing ink • All letters are on the website – you will be informed of new letters by text (ensure school have your up-to-date contact details) • Visit the ‘Learning’ page to find curriculum overviews for each term • Subject overviews available for all subjects

Topics and Trips • Autumn Term: TRAVEL THROUGH TIME & SPACE - includes work on Space and The Victorians – see Year 5 Autumn Curriculum Overview • Spring Term: EARLY ISLAMIC CIVILISATION - the updated Curriculum Overview will be available early in January; however please look at the 2019 one for further information • Summer Term: ANCIENT GREEKS - the updated Curriculum Overview will be available early in the summer term; however please look at the 2020 one for further information In year 5 we normally have trips and visits linked to all our topics; however, at the moment, due to the pandemic, Year 5 are unable to plan any of these. We hope that we will be able to do so later in the year.

Class Assemblies Due to COVID 19 we are currently not holding any assemblies in the hall. Children have daily 'acts of worship' with their teacher in their classes. You will be informed if we are able to hold class assemblies again later in the year.
